Here is my HObbyline Erie Lake Cities Express train set #450 on my layout

New York Society of Model Engineers, train show' Carlstad NJ' 11-2-2025
As always a interesting place to go to and be there. First reason for going was to drop off a ho loco for a member as i promised to do. the most rememberable thing noted in my cyikick is where I parked in the church lower lot. Only spaces left was on the slope of the hill, which is paved and used for parking. opening the door was an experance i never before had. Enough said about parking my car. I bravely did the mountain climbing to get into the upper parking lot area. As i found out when asking where the member i had come to see was. His table was in front center of the stage. Glaceing down that way I seen him. WELL HELLO! SPECIAL DELIVERY! We spoke for about 10 minutes before i was able to put the loco in his hands. This club is full of friendly people like this. I spend more talking here than looking at trains. After 15 minutes of talking and blocing the isle my initial purpose was completed. I wish my friend Louie was still here, he pessed way over a year ago. I do miss him. So I look for Walter the O gager who is always friendly. I really liked going his hobby shop in Millburn as it was always a interesting place to go to. I could not find him! well I hope he's OK. Back to this day's train show. Back to roaming the isles in search for more men's boy-toys. After going through the remaning 4 isles I had gotten a couple to locos in need of repairs or for parts cheep, back to the stage front isle. Here at the next table to my friend was aother person I knew from the club. On his table was of all things was a pacific loco in its original box, looking very good, with a very clearly marked low price, BUT it is another Marklin locomotive. I just got my first one at last weeks train show at the Wayne NJ PAL show. I guess I'll have 2 now. I got to admit their both in great condition, Interesting locos to see. If you have one it can sit on a shelf. When you have 2 - U got to run them! O well I gess I'll go home now. Say goodby, walk towards the exit, lookup the first isle and notice some HO freight cars. Nice one's! This is as I am standing in front of the table where the show entrance fee must be paid. The cars are on the table directly behind it. So as a model train person I must invistagate. Needles to say I got a few. Good cars. $2, each, 3 is with KD's. Aother good find!

I'd run it once or twice, just to spread the lubrication. It's not good for electric-mechanical things to sit. 
Zarthros, That's a good point you make about keeping the drives lubricated!

I'm not sure if I posted this train set already. so I'll DO IT NOW.
HERE IS MY ONLY REVELL TRAIN SET, IT may be the only set Revell made powered by its 0-6-0T UPRR OMAHA all metal locomotive, It is a small set in a large box. It has a 50' flat car with a real log load. a 40' UPRR boxcar, and a UPRR caboose. I hope you like seeing this old set from the 1950's. frank

Having been a machinists a large part of my working life, I often wonder if people can really appreciate what goes into making the molds, and machining the many pieces that go into these trains. It's quite amazing. The hobby isn't exactly growing, one day, all these trains will be cherished, and I believe there will be a 2nd golden era of train modeling and working.
Here is a British streamlined pacific loco. A Coronation class steam engine OO model. It must have been the first in its class because the name it was given is "Coronation" #6220. and doesn't include the prefix. It was the first of its class. The Streamlining on this loco is beautiful! I have 3 others in this class also. On all others in this class a prefix is attached to their names. It is City Of. I have besides The Coronation" the "City of Bristol" #6237 which is a red loco and 'City of Sheffield" #46249 which is finished in British rails green with gold striping. The fourth is the "City of Lancaster"#6243 I hope I can find my photos. I still have the beautiful engines!

Now while I am still thinking of streamlined steam locomotives, I must not forget the British A4 class of streamliners of which I have 7. I have one just for fun, and 6 other that are collectable. Gotta start with the fun one. Bachmann one as "Spencer" of the "Thomas & Friends" line of kids HO trains. Being a big kid, I HAD TO GET ONE! No way was this not to happen! Bachmann's Spencer, item #58749 comes done in a light gray with black accents done here and there to make it special. Spencer's face on the boiler front has moving eyes! Now, for Me, I did add a little more to Spencer. I centered a Black Jersey Central Liberty Lines decal on the tender sides and #810 on both the cab sides! under the window. Of the 6 Hornby A4 class British rails streamliners, I'll start with the all metal, Hornby Dublo 3 rail version A4. It still has its "Sir Nigel Gresley" sticker firmly attached to both sides of this Streamlined Speedster, and #7 on both cab sides of this beautiful blue locomotive. To bad I can't run it as it is. Maybe with some modifications it may be possible.
Second is the "Silver Fox", LNER #2512, by number it is next. Its Silver and gray with black nose coloring are a match for any name train using modern shiny metal sided cars. The tender in the same gray paint still clearly says L. N. E. R. Because these locos always head ends named passenger train consist. The need for access from passenger cars to loco cab on this loco's class of tenders was made with a walkway through and around the coal load pit of the tender. Seen on the rear and front of these tenders are passenger doors that give access to this connecting walkway from both the Locomotive cab, and the lead trailing train set car. Centered on the loco's boiler side is the "SILVER FOX" is a rendition of a leaping fox. The loco number 2512is on the cab sides. in progress.

I think so, with the advances in DCC and when people can now add vehicles to complex train sets, and sets that be constantly expanded, it opens up a whole new reality to this amazing hobby. "N" scale trains that can use the same track in different directions controlled by a computer that you set up to time everything, vehicles traveling on toads, with no slots, following a wire in the road, that broadcasts a binary signal and tells that vehicle (by your programming) where to go, when to stop, built in features that prevent collisions, it's ripe for the picking. All this stuff will fit older trains, bring them into this era, so nothing is left behind. That's when these classic unobtanium cars will become worth a fortune. The set up below is a club. The individual vehicles and trains are expensive, but you start out with a plan, and slowly execute it. That makes a fine hobby that will make anybody feel like a child in wonderment.
