Loco Of The Week 9/3: GE Power

Since no ones started one this week, I'd thought I'd kick it off.
GE Power, U-Boats, B's and anything GE.Including traction!
Here's mine. Central New England C44-9W in New Haven retro paint. Yup!..Thats the scheme that was used on the New Haven's GE U25B's.

Here are my Atlas U23B locos in their Lehigh & New England fantasy scheme.

Nice looking locos, folks. I always liked the U-boats, partly because the prototypes were never seen in this area. Here are mine, modified Athearn U-33Cs. I've detailed and lettered them for my own Elora Gorge & Eastern. Except for the herald, which is a custom made dry transfer from C-D-S, and some of the smaller warning lettering, all of the lettering and striping is painted on. The grey is from Tamiya, while the black and white is Floquil.

I re-designated mine as U-36HTs (High Tractive effort) due to a couple of internal modifications. Each of the three units has been equipped with two Mashima can motors and ballasted to just over 33 ounces apiece. Measured drawbar pull is 8.3 ounces per unit. (Those grey shapes inside the body shell are the weights, custom cast from old wheel balancing weights.)

Unfortunately, due to an "era shift" to the 1930s, these units don't see much service, and will likely be cut up and the motors used elsewhere. I had them for sale for a while at a nearby hobby shop, but the custom paint job (too road-specific) and the fact that they were G.E.s (not a common unit around these parts) was against their sale. It also probably didn't help that there is no room in them for a decoder, much less a speaker for sound.
