It was the winter of 1984. That's as specific as my memory can recall.

    MT vs. Accumate Couplers

I stick with body mounted MT couplers, 1015's mostly. Trucks all seem to be good. I have Intermountain and Atlas trucks with Atlas metal wheelsets installed and they seem fine. I do still have a great many cars with MT truck mounted couplers as well. I had some bad experiences with Accumates...

Wow, nice dot Bikerdad, where did you get it? I can custom paint it for you. What kind of couplers do you use on a dot such as this? Is it DCC?

Here are two shots of that Turbo sitting in the Naporano scrap yard, Newark NJ in 1984. I don't know if it was scrapped or sold.

Best lights to use for HO diesel engines

Go on Ebay and search for "bright LED". There is a guy who sells sets of 3 for $4. He includes 3 resistors for use with DCC and some gel filters to make the blue cast of the LED's look more like incandecent lighting. He sells sets for DC or DCC. Buy a gang of them.

have you ever had to leave NEGITIVE feedback on ebay?

Since 1998, I have earned a living on Ebay (sort of). I have completed over 5000 transactions and in doing so I have found the following: 1). Less than 1/2 the people you deal with will leave feedback at all 2). When reading negative feedbacks, you can immediately tell who was wrong (in most...

How to mask a building for painting.

Here are some suggestions. First, look for Tamiya masking tape at your hobby shop. It is thin, low tack and flexible. It comes in many sizes but I like the 10mm. Don't just get the refill roll, get the one with the plastic case. It keeps the edges free of lint, dust and hair. Next, go to a good...

Hear that train a coming, Coming down the line

Felt like I was there. Reminds me of a photo caption in Erie Power. "Wham! and sticks, stones, paper, almost the photographer's camera go flying!".

They sure did make them big way back when. This is the Erie Railroad roundhouse & turntable at Port Jervis NY in 1886. Note the small turntable in the background and the Delaware & Hudson canal in the foreground.

    Erie RS-2 Questions

Marty, that's plumbing for the steam generator. There is also a stack on the short hood and some vent thingys. I have never seen a good close up shot where you could actually tell what it looked like. Maybe Cal-scale has the part. By the way, ran the heck out of the Berk at Gary's Sunday...

    Steam Locos are gettin' painted!!

Hey Marty, when she does get finished, she will be tested on Gary's layout. Hmmmm, do you think there may be a couple of double header shots? You had better work out a lease agreement with Gary before she gets there!! Hey Shamus, send those big guys out here!

    Wheels: metal or plastic

I want to go all metal wheels and body mounted couplers. Every time I visit the hobby shop I buy a pack or two of the Atlas metal wheelsets. The standard ones fit the Atlas and the Intermountain trucks and track well. All of my MT trucks are equipped with the MT low profile wheelsets. I will...
