    First Layout Progress...Mountain Side Town

BTW, check out my solution to control panels built into a small layout on this thread. I'm using 1 3/4" conduits mounted directly into the 2" foam board. I cut the foam board with a steak knife and fork! Mmmm, now that's good eatin'! Those plastic-top folding tables shouldn't be too hard...

    First Layout Progress...Mountain Side Town

Looks great! Keep the pics coming. I love to see a layout evolve. 4 - 5 inches under the frame seems a bit much. An inch or two is enough to run wires. What's your thinking on that?

    Young Love at McD's

You're a sick puppy. I can't wait to see the hotel room scene.

Life in a railroad town as....

Those are some big-ass dwarves if you ask me, LOL! They might look right on an S scale layout, but that's what makes the pics funny.

How many are using code 55 track?

What tillsbury said. I use code 55 Peco, and even old engines run great.

Let's have some fun in June's contest

:D Good pic Will! One more cruiser would have made it COMPLETELY prototypical.

    Making Prickly Pear Cactus

Hey Harold, considering Woodie's post, I'd keep an eye on those buggers lest they take over your layout.

    Zman's layout progress...pics!

"What did you use as the turnout throw switches? Are they the Peco PL-26 design?" Yes, exactly. They're passing contact switches so that the motors only get a brief current. When they're in the up or down position, they're actually off. Peco also makes a handsome housing for them, but I...

For discussion - how do you name your layout?

I'm struggling with this too. My layout has NY & NE trains running with New Haven trains, which is prototypical as the two companies shared track, but I don't want to get locked into having to conform to too much reality. I thought of calling my town "Littleton", as it's N scale, and there are...

Turnouts: Peco vs. Atlas vs. ? ; Need update

I use Peco code 55 turnouts and motors. Very easy to assemble, lay, and wire.

    Zman's layout progress...pics!

"The wiring is the thing I fear..." Those are just three-terminal SPDT switches. It looks like a lot of wiring because I've got six turnouts, totalling 18 wires, but the wiring is actually very straightforward.

what glue to use to glue track to roadbed

Ditto on the Liquid Nails. It takes a few minutes to set up, so you have enough time to adjust the track into place. I know for certain that Peco makes wide pieces of cork roadbed - wide enough to lay three tracks. Other companies may also offer something similar.

New Progress on the ACT RR

Wow. Looks fantastic. Is that station a kit, or bash, or scratch? The whole layout looks like an operator's dream come true.

I had a weak moment in Holland

Sweet loco!! I know exactly how you feel. I just dropped $135 on a set of limited edition logging car kits, and I don't even have a logging line!

    Begging for attention

It's definitely low on operating possibilites, that's why I'm planning to do as much intricate modeling as I can. It's the best I can muster as I live in a small apartment with no room for a permanent layout.
