Hey! C'mon, you don't even have to get off your duff,

Wayne, I take offence to your "get off your duff" comment, only because I have 2 duff's and couldn't figure out which one to get off of! BTW picking just one photo was tough, lots of good ones! 2slim

    My First Wheathered Stuff

Cab I'm one of these people who takes the minimalistic approach to weathering. If it takes me longer to weather the car than it did to build it, I have no interest! What would you rather do, run trains or weather engines and cars! People who don't have layouts seem to have all the time in the...

    My First Wheathered Stuff

Just like every other aspect of the hobby there are artists at weathering...c'mon Raildog, ease up! Not everyone weathers like the people on that site, if you want contest quality weathering fine, that's a great site to get ideas. But in my opinion, Cab, Trucklover and Deano have done a fine job...

    SW1500 Project Update.

Larry, Great looking engine! This maybe too late for your contest, but I think Details West makes the appropreate fuel filler(s) for the fuel tank. Not posative but they may have a kit with several details, IIRC. Good luck in the contest! 2slim:wave:

    Atlas Turnout Frogs to high?

Years ago I had a problem with a couple of Atlas HO switches where the point rails, (which were stamped metal at that time) were about .010 higher than the stock rails. Tried the mill file but almost yanked them out with that, eventually I just replaced the turnouts. I'd say the mill file would...

    Walk Thu Module

Great Module Bill I've had a concept for a swing bridge designed for a couple of years. I originally designed this for a friend's layout but he has since changed direction. Nice to see something similar 'in the flesh' as it were! :thumb: :thumb: 2slim

    N scale mowed lawn

Guys, I got some samples of papers from Paper Creek Models http://www.papercreek.com/main.html I was suprised at the resolution, they really fool the eye into thinking that there is texture there. Sunburn maybe you could figure out how to do your lawn this way. 2slim

    TV/Railroad Accuracy

I've not seen the movie, but recall someone saying that in the movie 'Ray' (about the legendary Ray Charles) there is a scene from the 1950's and in the background is a stack train going by, but maaaayyybbeeeee they were Flexi-vans, Slim,Yea, that's it :D :thumb: :D 2slim

    double decker module

Russ, My first inclanation is to agree with you, but it sounds like Ben has some plans he's worked up so I'll have to see those before I pass judgement. I'm sure the guy who thought up using extruded foam for a scenery base probably got the advice that he was barking up the wrong tree too. I...

    Track planning

Tim, In addition to all the previous good ideas, I would suggest looking at the track planning forum on the Gauge, lots of ideas there. One thing you may find useful, I have a friend who downloaded Right Track Software, but found the learning curve more than he could get used to. He went out...

    Is this a sad story?

Les, I have had similar experiences at my LHS. I just use the money I would have spent there to pay down my CC balance so that when I do find something, (usually online) I can order it. I do buy magazines if they have content I'm interested in at the LHS. As far as paint and glue that can be...

    MP 531 Project

Spark arrestor scratch pic I think Tad & I have the spark arrestor nailed, I needed a couple as well, so I got some Evergreen I beam stock, (P/N 274) and a little brass screen and here's what I came up with. They are 1/8" tall and use the cast in base, just wrapped the screen up over the top of...

    October, we have a winner

Dan, Was looking at the photo on my lunch hour and a couple of my co-workers asked if the picture was taken in Canada or Alaska. They thought I was kidding when I told them it was a model. In fact one of them swears he saw the same photo on a calendar someplace!! I have to admit I couldn't tell...

    AD&N Woodchip Gondola

Tad Looks good enough for my eyeballs man! Those ex-mopac hoppers sure have a different look to them, don't look like they would be too hard to kitbash either. Got a question, picked up a HO AD&N box from Athearn for a friends layout, it's the modern car with the white door. Noticed on the...
