    Walters

Actually, RIMike's a cross-poster from the HO side of life. (Or was that a cross-contaminant? I can never remember :p ) Walthers doesn't make any N-scale locomotives. They do make HO locos (or rather have their name stamped on them). The Walthers' rolling stock is what I would consider...

    Model Power 4-6-2 Pacific

No one really knows anything about it. It's a brand new model that hasn't been released yet. No advance samples have been sent for review either. I wouldn't mind another Pacific, but I think I'll wait until they arrive before I order.

    Has Anyone Heard?

Both the Durango & Silverton and the Cumbres & Toltec RR's are closed due to the wildfires in both areas.

    protype signs

Are you guys talking about N-scale signs or the real thing? I've bought a few reproduction signs from this guy: http://www.vikingclockworks.com They're not historic, but they are a lot cheaper! The porcelan prints are a little nicer, but they are more expensive. I remember he offered...

    Detailing - MU Hoses

Mike, Go to http://krugtales.50megs.com/rrpictale/p010420/p010420.htm and scroll all the way to the bottom. The picture's a little "icky" but you can count the hoses for a SD40.

Interestin website for freight car data

While perusing another forum, I was pointed in the direction of http://www.ttx.com . This is TTXs website (the guys who lease all that yellow intermodal equipment and railbox stuff). Click on the equipment overview button and your're given lots of information and pictures about the freight...

    Custom painting

SF "Kodachrome" locos and DRGW F units to start. Maybe a few fantasy units as well. I don't want to turn this thread into a business deal, so feel free to contact me through email. Thanks

    Atlas Right Track Software

Something else I noticed trying to replicate Atlas layouts from the book into RTS is that RTS doesn't allow for cut track. Several of the Atlas layouts have track cut short to fit (90 degree crossings are typical). RTS doesn't do this, and doesn't have a fix for it. But it's a free program...

    Diesel Engine Type

Bob, I think that Athern did some imagineering with your new model. The cab is the wrong type for the DD40. The -40 had the windswept cab, similar to the SD60M and C44-9W. The standard cab only appeared on the DD35. But your model has the 6 exhaust fans found on the DD40. The DD35 only had...

    Custom painting

Randy, The engines look very nice. Have you thought about painting in other scales beside HO? N perhaps? I would be interested as most current custom painters have very long wait lists.

    Schmidt Sawmill

Errol - The waves were actually created during the creation of this world. Just before the water had completely formed, the Deity Figure sneezed. You can see the result of that one. Fortunately, the Deity Figure has promised to divinely rescue any logger who falls in the drink. Spurred...

    Sheds,Outhouses or Biffies

Nice job Vic! That's a real home away from home! BTW - Did you mean to add a little 'smiley face' to the roof of the middle sh**shack or did it just turn out that way? :)

    Peco Flextrack

I've got several lengths sitting on a chair in my living room waiting for me to get off my duff and build a layout to use them on. I'm going to be using polystyrene so I plan on gluing it and not nailing it. You may also notice that the tie spacing is wider (European) than the Atlas...

    LL GP-20 Problem, Need Help

Charlie's right. You'll probably need to order a new strip from LL. The strip should sit upon a brass contact from the truck. It picks up the electricity from the wheels and transfers it to the frame/engine. The strip on the other side takes juice from the frame back to the wheels.

    The Living Room Central RR

Rory, Kinda looks like you've started modeling Kansas! :D Just need a couple more cornfields and you'll be set. Sometimes temporary layouts are the best. They let you start and finish in minutes and get your train rolling in no time at all. Your son looks like he's having as much fun as...

    Diesel Engine Type

Bob - Mountain West Rails has a short video of UP 6936 leading an engineer's special train through Colorado. Video is about 1.5MB and 15 seconds long. Here's the link http://www.mtnwestrail.com/colorado/movies/up6936.MPG

    Diesel Engine Type

Bob - The DD35 (DD35B is pictured) is different from the DD40. The -35 had two SD/GP35 engines and a standard cab. The -40 had to SD/GP40 engines and a safety/windswept cab ala the EMD 'M' designation. DD35's (A and B units) are completely gone. THe only DD40 left in service is UP 6936. It...

    Diesel Engine Type

Just for reference, this is a DD35B, SP 9902. A cabless booster designed to provide a lot of Horsepower when needed. Sorry about the number of posts, but the DD40 is one of my favorites!
