What kind of Engine is this? I know it's just a case, but what kind?

That is an F Unit. I'll leave it to the more detail oriented deisel spotters to let you know if its an F3, F7, or

F7A Phase II. The four paired louvers between the portholes are the giveaway.

The 48" dynamic brake fan in front of the four smaller 36" radiator cooling fans means it is a phase II or late model F7.

Earlier F7's had a 36" dynamic fan as modelled by Athearn.

That is a Bachmann F7 or F9.
