This is an HO module of the old South Hills Junction south of downtown Pittsburgh as it was in the days of Pittsburgh Railways.

This module won first place at the 2006 NMRA convention in Philadelphia.

Well, Val I'll have to post some photos later, but I was there in the 70s and 80s and there were still 5 PCC lines there at that time. But for now these will have to do

South Hills Junction was the location of the last carbarn on the Pittsburgh streetcar system. Lines 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 42, 43, 44, 47 and 48 operated through it prior to 1964. This was the route into downtown Pittsburgh for the Washington interburban.

By the time I was there in the late 70s, the tracks were paved and buses were running through the tunnel.

Buses still run through the tunnel along with LRVs.

To me it has lost almost all of it's charm. The tree cover was wonderful when Gerald Widemark took his photos in 1965.
