Polar Lights 1:1000 Enterprise "Refit"

Okay folks here comes another plastic kit build. The Polar Lights 1:1000 Enterprise "Refit" as seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

started by painting the clear parts to simulate a lighted model

and I got the lower half of the saucer section masked on the Green Doors painted

more pics as the work continues.

and the dome base painted to resemble a planet below

now to start the build of the kit.

Okay got the sub assemblies done and base coated with a 90% 10% mix of Vallejo white and Ivory, followed by a mist coat of Pactra RC color white Pearl.

Then all the assemblies are gloss coated for decals, and the decals start with the saucer

The first 16 Aztec panels are applied to the saucer top.

Decal count is now up to 25 and next I start the upper details

Decal count up to 49 on the saucer and still not done.

The neck has 8 decals and is ready for final clear coat.

I decided to get all the Aztec decals down, then gloss coat over them and put the registry decals on a fresh gloss surface.

Decal count on the saucer is now 59 and still more to be placed on the topside.

Update on my PL 1:1000 Refit, primary hull completed, and attached to the dorsal interconnect. Decal count now up to 88. The primary hull has been final flat coated and the clear areas unmasked.

and now I start the secondary hull. the deflector housing alone gets 13 decals.

That is really coming together beautifully!!!
I did not realize just how many decals there are for that model. WOW!!!

There are a lot of 'em, I wish I had taken a picture of the THREE decal sheets that came in the kit.

and an update for today, started decaling the secondary hull proper, six more decals on the upper side of the secondary hull.

for those keeping track the total for the decals is now at 107, and still more to come.

Another quick update...12 more decals applied to the secondary hull.

This finishes off the secondary hull except for the StarFleet pennants.

and for those keeping track that brings the new total up to 119.

just a small update for today, I attached the Primary bhull to the Secondary hull,

now all that is left are the nacelles, the each get quite a few decals.

Finally got the nacelles of the E Refit done. 30 more decals, bringing the models total decal count up to 155.

next is the final detail painting and final assembly.
