MiG-21-F13, Egypt, by Andrew Inwald, 1:33

Hello all.
Some time ago a began a new model, this time the MiG-21-F13 designed by the late Andrew Inwald, AKA Kangaroo.
The model is in late Egyptian Air Force camouflage, green-tan on the upper surfaces, sky blue on the lower, meaning post-1968. The United Arab Republic roundels on the model place tis model in time frame of 1972, the latest.
The design is really detailed and the coloring is awesome with dirt and weathering. Some details are made using the emboss effect.

I don't like the decision of the designer to use the skeleton structure for the central part. The central part is pretty long and small in diameter, so it would be smarter to separate that part into three segments and to reinforce only the middle segment where the landing gears wells are located and through which the wing spars go. The other segments can be made short with former-glue tabs. That would simplify the construction....

So,I began, as suggested, with the center part's skeleton. Nothing too difficult here. After assembly of the skeleton, it appeared to be a little wobbly from side to side, so I reinforced it with thin cardboard strips along the top centerline which also gave me a backplate on which the seam of the wrapping would rest. Also, the landing gears wells went in.
I made a mistake of connecting the connection tab in the longitude edge if the wrapping with old watery PVA white glue which made this edge very "wavy". Fixed it by gluing a strip of paper along the edge with UHU glue and pressing the edge between the metal rulers with clothes pins.
It took me more than 1hr to wrap the skeleton with its cover, apparently the skeleton got a bit banana-like from side to side. But the wrapping cover was glued to its place pretty well. I used small dots of the solvent based PVA glue (craft glue?) which dries extremely fast without warping the paper and thus not causing ribs protrusion.

Later I began with the cockpit, nothing too difficult here, just regular carefulness should be taken.
After the cockpit tub was finished, I cut out some parts of the pilot's seat, which is very detailed, too bad half of it will not be seen with closed canopy.

Despite the fact that instructions are made using a number of photos of the part under construction, not everything is clear how to make the part. It's bearable, not great.

Cardboard used is the morning cereals box, some single use cardboard pizza trays were also used. The paper is 145 g/m2, probably too thin, but makes easier to form small parts and there are a few.

Enjoy some pictures
