Faux fur dieing

I decided to use some fake fur to model long grass. All I could find was white black and an extreamly darkk brown. So I got the white. My mom suggested dieing it with tea. That did not work. What else could I use to die it. Would stain seems to be too dark.

How about good ol rit fabric dye? Never done what your doing, this is just an idea.
