3 hours 4 miles 1 train

Wow,lots of walking and 1 stinking train.
Well at least I had my train partner with me!
They are double tracking and not much daily traffic. There was an un-attended locomotive sitting there and every 20 min. or so it would start up and run for about 5 then shut down again. Is this some feature of what appeared to be a C4400W ?

Thanks Chris and you are correct we did have a good time just being together and walking and looking at trains.

It's like it is around here sometimes when I wait for hours and nothing comes by but at least you got the one photo and also the good one of your partner. That's interesting about that un-attended loco. I can understand it having to start up everyso often if it was in a cold climate but it looks pretty warm where you took the photos. Seems like a waste of fuel to me. No wonder freight rates keep going up.

Rodin , I am being told this is an auto start not only for cold weather but to charge batteries and keep the air up. I would also assume out here the crew would leave the air conditioner on. :thumb:
