I’ve done a lot of “armchairing” on this concept over the last couple of years…designing & building an entire layout based entirely on a single industry, rather than the more traditional approach; having multiple industries on a single layout… Up until now, logging layouts are the only ones...

Hi Johnnie! :wave: A lot would depend on what era you're modeling, as to what type of gaurd rails would've been used...On rural mountain roads, well into the 1960's & 70's, there was usually no more than a wooden rail, or many times, it would be a heavy steel cable, threaged through heavy...

Hi ID! :wave: Welcome to The Gauge! :) Thanks for posting the pics! Some of them are a little on the blurry side...If your camera is not equiped with a "macro" lens, you usually won't be able to focus on an object under 2 or 3 feet away...My daughter has a digital camera that I've had that...

Hi Michael, :wave: I wouldn't worry about the cats as much as I would what effect most scenic bonding methods would have on the material...i.e. - How would the litter/spedi=dry react to water, glue, paint, etc...? What exactly are you thinking of using it for? Ballst? Ground cover? Rock?

This shows the backdrop on one of my former layouts... It's not linolium, but vinyl flooring...I flipped it over, & used the back of it to paint the "sky" on... Jim is right...it does require a lot of support, because it is so flimsy...I built this layout as kind of a box, hung on the...

Hi Ding! Welcome to The Gauge! :wave: (I take it you're a Tom Clancy fan...? ;) ) I'm working on a small HOn30 logging layout right now, & I don't have a whole lot of pictures yet... This is a trestle scene at one end of the layout...It's the only area that is fully scenicked at this point...
