    N Scale Fire Dept

Nice work! With that long ladder truck, it should reduce the business fire insurance rates in your town. I like the extension you put on the fire house to fit it in. Really great job on that ladder truck.

    Weathered feed mill for Jess

Thanks for the pictures, Val. I have attached a pic of the kit I will be building. Since it is a similar structure, I can definitely pattern the weathering after your pictures. There are still a lot of these structures around in our rural areas, and I don't ever recall seeing one with a fresh...

A Little Holiday Video Cheer For Y'all

Cannonball, I enjoyed the video! What the heck is that engine? When I pause the video I get enough blurring that I can't see it clearly.

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Just got back from having breakfast with some friends. Six to twelve inches on the roads, and very little plowing being done. Thank goodness for four wheel drive. We have had a LOT of snow here so far this season, and it isn't even officially winter yet - hard to say what THAT will bring! The...

    Building the Riverside Railroad

CNW, when you get to the point where you need switches and more track, give me a shout. I have a lot of that stuff laying around gathering dust and I would rather see it put to use.

Curtains and Blinds and Shades, OH MY!

Kyle, I had never thought of that test light idea either. That makes it so much easier than undoing the permanent wiring, fixing the leaks and the rewiring. I really like the blinds. Modeling in N scale makes efforts like that a really challenge for these big, clumsy figures. Nice job!

Herc, what is your secret for making the Amtrak train run almost on time? Are you sure it isn't just 24 hours late?

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Good morning. This is my first trip to the Caboose - haven't ingested enough caffeine to start working on the layout this morning, so thought I would stop by and have a cup of coffee with you folks. I am fairly new at this model RR stuff - got started on the current layout less than a year ago...

    Dec. 7 Weekly Photo Fun

Val, the more I look at those houses, the more convinced I am that they are real! Trying to pass the real thing off as models? Now if you had me build them for you, everyone would know they are models! Great job!

    LHS Customer Review

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to go visit a hobby shop that advertises in the hobbyist magazines. It is about 70 miles away, so I got my list together and headed there with great anticipation. En route to that shop, I drove through a small town and noticed a hobby shop! I stopped in and...

    Help Me Weather My Roads

I am afraid I can't be of much help, because I have many of the same questions - you beat me to this posting by a week or so. I am not satisfied with my roads, so I will be following this thread to learn something myself. There are plenty of experts here, so I am sure that some good information...
