Why are Atlas ties black ?

I'm in the process of painting my Atlas code 100 ties Boxcar Red. Just slathering it on, without trying for an even/perfect coat, is showing some nice results. You can see some black poking through in places, and the brownish color is actually very dark

Deano, nice aquisitions! CN Nutbar, hope you find that FM for your collection. And just like Deano said, the detailing on that steamer in the last pic is very nice!

More people That just don't get it..

One thing I learned when I used to put coins on tracks, is to put a splash of pop on the track first. When the friction of the closing in train heats up the tracks it cooks the pop, making it sticky. The coin will not fall off the tracks

Nice addition. Can't wait to see what you use to bridge that big gap. Should look good!

Don't laugh too hard...It's my first attempt!

That gatorboard stuff looks good lining the tunnel. I'm all for using what's on hand, but I have just about nothing on hand, so I've had to buy almost everything new for my layout. This is why I've been making such slow progress

Don't laugh too hard...It's my first attempt!

Wow Steve, great progress! Love the portal you painted, and that blue foam one should come out great too. Only thing I have to say is, why didn't you use Floquil "Aged Cement" for the keystone, rather than a lighter color? the Aged Concrete really does look great, just like aged concrete

    Morning interlude...

Just admit it Deano, you like those PFE's most. Though I do agree that all the cars in this train look great. I myself feel pretty partial to the Santa Fe's. Those EG-E's are really nice looking. I keep wanting to get them confused with the EJ&E though

All the Youth talk is it true?

I'm 24 here. Don't have much money to work with, and not much time either with the job and my son. But I manage!
