    OT: Computer casemod

Not really model railroad related, but this guy did an AWESOME job of modding his computer case, and I think a lot of the skills he demonstrates would be a learning experience to anyone viewing it. http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1 I am already thinking of ways...

    Sawmill Need Help

Also...look for some of the detail castings from Keystone Locomotive Works. While possibly cruder than brass castings, they are a nice addition when filling up a sawmill.

    Stephenson's Rocket

Does it count if I already have the OO scale engine and carriages? :)

    Linn Westcott's Train Player

you know....with this thread, and my recent foray into Auran's Trainz program, maybe The Gauge needs a "Virtual Railroad" forum?

    Do you visit Google Ads?

to be honest, I rarely even consciously notice them. With the over-assault of advertising nowadays, my brain just filters out what I'm not interested in. Maybe if they had ads for Walthers or Precision Scale I might notice them, but since it is not related to any hobby/interest of mine, they...

Some comments on old issues of MR

I'll second nachoman's comments. Once i got into model railroading, I made an effort to first look for copies of magazines that contained articles I was interested in (logging, articulated steam, etc.), then finally into fleshing out the years I had pieces of, and finally to "collecting" MR...

    Starting On30 Class-A climax

Decided since I couldn't afford to buy one of Bachmann's On30 Climax locos, I'd take some spare parts lying around, and some PVC from the local Chase-Pitkin, and a On30 Wooden Shay cab kit to start scratchbuilding an On30 Class-A climax. http://www.frontiernet.net/~blkbear/DCP_1226.JPG...

    wow, train engines are alot!

Closest I came was a $400 HO Scale United brass Vulcan Duplex. Wanted a nice Beyer Garratt, but the missus would "cut me off" if I spent over $1000 on an engine.

What Do You Do If You Have No Sheet Of Wood

I've considered copying an article I saw in a model RR mag about using just the blue-foam for the benchwork. you take and cut strips of the foam (I think they used 3/4" thick sheets) into 2 or 4" strips which become the frame pieces. Glue these together like you would put together a 1"x4"...

    Atlas righttrack program

Some people just may not be very good at designing a decent, workable, track-plan without help. In my case, I got a LOT of help from my step-dad-in-law. Too bad I'm losing the room it would have been in, but someday I'll have bigger and better things. "Build a man a fire, and he'll be...

Its Monday 7-25-05, Weekend modeling accomplishments!

I got "government" approval for my new right-of-way. A foot-wide shelf layout comprising three of the four walls in the spare bedroom of our new home. Construction to begin at an as-of-yet-undetermined time.

    Beyer Garratts?

Would anyone have plans for a small 0-4-0--0-4-0 Garratt? All these wonderful posts on converting HO track to On30 and stuff has me wishing to add a tiny, outside frame Garratt to my On30 logging line. Michael

After 8 years - it has begun

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but after getting half the benchwork in the room built, foamed, and started laying the roadbed, I just got the sad news that we are going to have to leave this house. The new place isn't going to have space for a layout right away, so it's back to armchair...

Credit to you both. Him for cutting it down, you for making it look like a working engine!

Valley NTRAK's new mini rotary camera

Just a thought..... Can you move the antenna? It would be awesome to move it to the smokestack, then disguise it with some blackened cotton: a.k.a - SMOKE. :)

    HOn30 2-6-6-2

That looks sharp! Not sure if this was discussed before, but those "pizza cutter" flanges on the drivers makes it look as if it was a kit-bash of a couple Rivarossi 0-6-0's.

    Parts for AHM

Take a small hex nut that fits in the "cup" portion on each end. SCrew one on each end of a short piece of brass threaded rod. Solder in place. Paint black and you have an instant, made to order, driveshaft. Michael
