Also...look for some of the detail castings from Keystone Locomotive Works. While possibly cruder than brass castings, they are a nice addition when filling up a sawmill.

Closest I came was a $400 HO Scale United brass Vulcan Duplex. Wanted a nice Beyer Garratt, but the missus would "cut me off" if I spent over $1000 on an engine.

I've considered copying an article I saw in a model RR mag about using just the blue-foam for the benchwork. you take and cut strips of the foam (I think they used 3/4" thick sheets) into 2 or 4" strips which become the frame pieces. Glue these together like you would put together a 1"x4"...

I got "government" approval for my new right-of-way. A foot-wide shelf layout comprising three of the four walls in the spare bedroom of our new home. Construction to begin at an as-of-yet-undetermined time.

Would anyone have plans for a small 0-4-0--0-4-0 Garratt? All these wonderful posts on converting HO track to On30 and stuff has me wishing to add a tiny, outside frame Garratt to my On30 logging line. Michael

That looks sharp! Not sure if this was discussed before, but those "pizza cutter" flanges on the drivers makes it look as if it was a kit-bash of a couple Rivarossi 0-6-0's.

Take a small hex nut that fits in the "cup" portion on each end. SCrew one on each end of a short piece of brass threaded rod. Solder in place. Paint black and you have an instant, made to order, driveshaft. Michael
