    n gauge diesel

I use a 9v battery with a battery clip that has two small alligator clips soldered to the wires. After I open the loco up, I touch the clips to the brushes on the motor. 9 volts is usually enough to get a dirty motor to at least kick over. My bet would be that the loco needs a good clean and...

    Those Strange Looking Boxcars?

More than likely they are aircraft part transporters---wings and fuselages---from one assembly point to another.

    Athearn's ubiquitous Boat

Key up the theme music for "Sea Hunt"...nice work.

    Pics from Baltimore

Thanks for the pics, I can see they still need to touch up an engine or two after the roof collapse. I see the roof is nothing like the original, so glad I have a real good picture of it...still wonder what the thought of that nut lying down on his back in the middle of the turntable...

    square or vanderbuilt?

Aye...so I'm the only vandy fan out there...I go crawl under me rock now. Wayne, my dearest wish is to be shrunk to HO scale for an hour, just to take the throttle on your layout in one of your well finished steads.:thumb:

    LED Christmas lights...

Pretty cool.:thumb::thumb: The club I was a member of recently installed a valance lit with several strings of clear white ones that is quite effective.

    Steam Locomotive black paint.

Floquil's "Engine Black" always made me happy with its dark, charcoal gray color. There is some problem with it in certain lights when taking photographs as it gets an almost Pennsylvania RR "Brunswick Green" cast to it. Maybe that will help. I'd like to see pics when it's finished as I enjoy...

    Now What?

I used to have to come in through my email box but now that appears not to be the case any more. In the past, if I came in through another link or through my Bookmarks or History, it would not accept my password, I'd have to come in through links in my mailbox.

    A Sad Day Here

Like that, I have way too much fun in this hobby... My only regret is that the cabinet is pretty big...4wx5lx4h makes for a monster but my beloved suggested it and we're both content with how it looks. We hope to move to a larger house and set it up in a rec room type setting. Your...

    A Sad Day Here

Oh, I haven't lost anything really...just had to pare it down some. I have a nice N scale layout for ops, a really good test bed for HO and Marlin three rail, a portable loop of N for train shows and, if that isn't enough, a loop of G for when I'm feelin' it for the big stuff.:thumb: Here's...

    A Sad Day Here

TT is 1:120 while Z is 1:220 I feel for you as I had to close the door on any large layout aspiration I had. Sold it all down to a smaller, more manageable pile a year and a half ago and never looked back. My hobby (I also dropped all others except trains) is now more relaxing and much...

    how many is enough?

That is me for the most part. My hobby is a nostalgic trip anyway, just something I've enjoyed for years in a variety of forms. I've become that which I greatly loathed years ago, the collector who has way more than I could ever run, mostly shelf queens that sit around looking good but seeing...

    Accurail Switchman

I have a set of those by Rix. They work OK but, if you have steel details like grab irons and such, they tend to grab those. The sandwich picks won me over rather quickly after a couple derailments.
