Suitcase connectors, where ya get 'em?

Thanks for the tip, i bought about 20$ worth of the blue suitcase connectors and i hate them. They don't fit exactly properly around 12gauge wire i use for my bus line. I'm going to see if i can get it from mouser.

Unknown Engine and A tie replacement machine septa/amtrak

I went back to the site they were working and took more pictures of the machine and a couple other maintenance machines along the right of way. These smaller images don't do this thing justice, you have to see the details. I set the camera on full resolution so you can see the bolts if you use...

Scenic Ridge Layout- Still Can't Decide

Have you considered the wall attached fold away's? The steel hinges that attach to the wall are prolly 30 bux or so and you can just use regular door hinges for the legs on the other side of the table. You can paint or decorate the underside.. or if you are enterprising you can setup diorama's...

    Lost in the caulking jungle

I have a little glue gun, fits in the palm of your hand, how can i tell if it's low or high temp? It has 2 temp settings and it's never burned me when it drools out of the nose. I'll have to try it out on scrap foam. I'll take pix. That would be ideal for me because i always change my mind...

    how much power?

I've done it w/ some tracks for my kids w/ 2 color led's w/ resistors on both legs. When they change polarity the leds change color, when they turn up the juice the leds get brighter. It makes it easier for them to get some feedback as to what is going on. I also have it setup so it tells them...

I've been planning my next section of layout and i've been toying w/ the idea of adding passenger service, your response is helping solidify a great plan!!!! I've been watching amtrak here in the northeast, they've built a new building in philadelphia (cira center) and the acella is insanely...

    cleaning brass track

i ran through powerloc steel brass and finally ended up w/ nickel silver. It is much easier to maintain than brass, but especially when i was starting out i was attracted to brass because it is cheap :). If i had it to do over again i'd skip all the other stuff and go straight for new nickel...

The reported demise of railroad industry

I've been doing more digging into the finance of the railroad industry, and how quickly they can adapt. It looks like based strictly on wall street that the consolidation efforts of the major railroads over the past 12 to 20 years have been paying off in spades on the freight lines recently...

What is an "in use cover"? The sump won't power on anymore heheh no matter what outlet i plug it into look slike it's been there a while it's semi corroed/rusted on teh bottom and the top part separates from the impeller easily, i guess those sorts of things aren't apparent when you look at it...

Basement flooded w/ all the rain!!

the circuit was gfi protected, it wasn't the sump that tripped it, the sump died out and shorted ;0, it was the 4" of water that 3 power strips were submerged in that tripped the gfi =).
