I use atlas turnouts no problems for the price I think every brand of turnout needs some work to work reliably. you might think about using #4s in the yard to save space. maybe put the steel mill on a separate module or peninsula expansion

Yes you can wire 2 machines to 1 switch I think the adaptor is for mounting on top of layout? so long as they are the same "code" 100 you can use any brand of turnout.

If you use rosin core solder there is no cleaning involved. after the "Iron" heats up hold it to the inside of the rail joint. touch the solder to the out side of the rail. you will see the solder melt and it will flow all through the rail joint once again less is better a good joint will just...

when soldering bigger is not better like EZDAYS said use a 40 watt pencil type iron and make sure you use rosin core solder NOT acid core which is for plumbing

just started a ps-2 covered hopper car on step 4 grab irons so i found if you drill out the cast holes to a #74 it makes life easy, as to get the D%*$ things off the sprue ?
