Hey Robin, have you seen this?

Hi all, Well I bit the bullet and ordered a sheet of shingles and a sheet of the unpainted wood. So do you think I should make the cabin out of say cereal board and then laminate the material sheets to that? Or would that still be too thin? I was really impressed with the photos of the depot...

Hey Robin, have you seen this?

Got a copy of the March Railroad Model Craftsman magazine and there is an article about this company Paper Creek Models . They seem to have some pretty nice looking material sheets, I think the structure kits are kind of expensive. The article in RMC mentions using sheet wood as an underlayment...

Need ideas for making a outdoor BBQ

Jetrock, That's a cool idea for a closed BBQ, the open one sounds do-able but a bit ambitious for me, still a good idea though. Bob, I knew you would come up with a cool idea, I'm actually going to use a freight car brake cylinder from my parts box. I sawed it in half length wize and tilted...

Need ideas for making a outdoor BBQ

Val, Thanks for the link, actually made me remember that I have some old pipe screens that I could use as the wire grill portion. The tripod type is what I'm thinking of, except that they now have 4 legs, (2 with wheels, wooo). And the bodies are now squarish with a lid. I did a google search...

    March Photo Contest: LPABP

Silicone Jon, definately Silicone! That appears to be a very dangerous street indeed, lots of fender-benders I'd suspect. Reminds me of a cartoon I once saw where a similarly endowed lass, (wearing much less) was standing in a layout room trying to get a fellows attention and the caption read...

    Good hobby, wrong time.

That's why we hang out here!! :thumb: As was mentioned, a hobby is a hobby! You'll find a lot of folks have more than one. I know lots of people who only mess with trains during the colder months, you'd never catch them indoors for long in the spring and summer months. If your interested enough...

    Tip for scratchbuilders......Yo' Robin!

I read this tip in this months Model Railroader and I'll share it, but then I had a light bulb moment. You'll see what I mean. They finally got around to showing how they kitbashed the mine on the Turtle Creek extension. The author mentioned photocopying the kit parts and then using the copies...

    Mayewood Railroaders Goes Corporate

Leroy, Just a thought for what it's worth, someone mentioned that the manufacturers are deluged with requests for free stuff all the time. I guess that's understandable. I think if I were in your place I would send out a fax or email of one of those group pictures of the kids with your request...

Time to call it a day.

Dude, If modeling trains are stressing you out that bad, you're right, it's time to move on. If it becomes more like a chore than something fun and entertaining, then it's no good trying to continue. I wish you well. 2slim

    Non-DCC Command Control Systems

Ralph, Nice to hear that Dynatrol still supports it's product. I've heard some horror stories about guys who were using CTC-80 after it went defunct and needed support. I have used Dynatrol and for what it was at the time it was pretty good. But that could be said of black and white TV, Atari...

This is cool! 77railer, They can only say no! Actually the manufacturers I've hit up about donations for our local club were very kind. Send emails both to Atlas and Woodland Scenics you might score some good scenery items from the latter. Best wishes :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb...
