    Dremel

I use a single speed Dremel model 275 with a Dremel tabletop speed controller. The table top speed controller allows you to really fine tune the speed. I also use the Dremel brand keyless chuck (I had one of the cheaper knock offs and it was way out of balance). I also use a foot switch that is...

    New York Ontario & Western's Mountaineer Limited 4-8-2 #405

Here is the Mountaineer Limited in HO. I have painted it for a customer and friend of mine. It is not quite done yet, but just about. It still needs the pinstripping on the drivers, window glazing, crew, coal in the tender and the wheel tires need to be cleaned.

    Smoke box color

The best color that I have found for a graphite smoke box is Testor's Model Master metalizer called "exhaust". After it dries you can buff it and it looks nice. Also their "gunmetal" works well for Russian Iron.

    wood kits

Use an acrylic lacquer like Krylon Crystal Clear and do both sides. Spray several very light coats and rub them with fine steel wool in between coats. This will keep the parts from warping.

Gary's New York Central electric (p-2)

Been working on 2 of these locos for Gary and they are moving along kind of slowly as the decaling is quite tricky. Gary had decals custom made. After 2 of these P-2's I have a T-3 to do.

A New Level Of Model Railroading?

John Allen had a lot of funny stuff on his railroad. Most were very subtle. Like the box car with 2 guys unloading crates marked IBM Typwriters (remember...the G&D was an 1880's layout). These cars are funny and well done though I wouldn't be buying any.
