The HO Piermont Western Railway circa 1915

Westerfield makes a gang of cars for that time period. Tichy also has a few. I plan on scratch building some of the more specific cars like an Erie reefer as well and one for the NYO&W. Also Art Griffin makes some fantastic decals for that period.

The HO Piermont Western Railway circa 1915

Hold on there. I'm not giving up the N scale. I'm doing both. The way I figure it, most of the N scale stuff is pretty great right out of the box. So I will continue with that because there are only a handful of in depth projects for what I want. Plus, I love the 1950's stuff. The HO stuff is...

The HO Piermont Western Railway circa 1915

I plan to build a small freelance HO railroad that will depict the Erie Railroad's Piermont branch (in essence). The time frame is 1910 to 1919 (with some exceptions). As you may know, I model the Erie RR circa 1952 in N scale but I thought this would be fun as well. My plans are to build all of...

    Banged-Up Metal

I always use a satin finish on everything. All railroad equipment is painted gloss and then gets weathered over that gloss. To paint a model gloss however, doesn't work either as real gloss doesn't scale down properly.

April 04 photo contest - Archive

Spring has sprung in Peermont as #1595 (an Erie 2-8-0) rounds the bend with the local. He has a boxcar for the LCL's, an empty milk car for the dairy and a 60' coach to bring in the workers from Suffern.

Next time try Scalecoat II Wash Away. The stuff is like brake fluid only it lasts much longer and smells much less. It's great stuff.

Model Railroading Terms That Make Me Nutz!

Or how about being at a club layout during an operating session (were none of your equipment is on the layout) and hearing some one utter "Oh geeeezzzz!" just as you hear that unmistakable sound of plastic and metal hitting concrete followed by the sounds of wheels rolling off in all directions...

Some shots with my new Minolta DiMage A1

Thanks folks. Yes the caboose is really N scale! The photos may be a bit bluish because I think my monitor has too much green in it. I use the blue to correct it for me but it may appear too cool on another monitor.

How about "hey, does that loco have a smoke generator in it?".

Some shots with my new Minolta DiMage A1

By the way, just so you guys know, the first 3 scenes are in HO and the 3rd is an N scale cabose kit that I just completed for a customer. It was about 98% laser cut wood and it was a great build. I painted the NYC locos shown in the first 3 shots.

That's Gary Pfeil's railroad George. I think there are more photos of that scene somewhere here on the Gauge.
