Hello all!
After more than two months, the road wheels are finally finished.
It wasn’t easy to assemble them due to the usual issues with drawings and incorrect diameters.
A lot of adjusting… and a lot of repeating steps.
So, 36 wheels total, combined into 18 pairs: 8 pairs on one side, 8 on the other, and 2 spare wheels in the rack.
I spent quite a bit of time thinking about the best way to assemble everything and measured all the parts several times.
Eventually I figured out the correct sequence
The diameter of parts 154a/b was slightly too large, so I trimmed them down and glued them together.
Part 154d was difficult to understand. The edges seem to be designed to fold inwards to form a rim, but they interfered with the wheel disks.
So, I cut the edges off, painted the exposed sides, and glued the part to the disk perimeter.
Next, I cut the supporting ring 154x in half — as usual, it was too small in diameter — and glued it to the perimeter.
After that I added the tire parts.
The final step was gluing 284 spikes onto all the wheels.
Once that was done — they were finally ready.
Assembly also required some thought. I followed this order:
Glued the wooden axles into the wheel suspension
Glued the suspension assemblies to the hull
Glued the middle ring to half of all wheels
Glued the inner wheel, then the outer wheel — constantly checking the offset against the drive sprocket
Glued axel cup
…and repeated that process 15 more times
