An enjoyable romp into the realm of adding 'extra' and just improving the depth of whats there already.

I decided to create a stand for this model. I thought that the "bird" crest from the Viper Pilot's helmet would make for a good "base" for the stand. YES, I know that it is a "rough" (around the edges). However, this is a "proof of concept" stand. I have sent the original template and photos to @Revell-Fan for review and revision (if he wishes to move forward to the concept, and create a more "professional" looking stand).
Here are the parts for the stand. The support parts (that the plane sits on) are laminated to 1mm thick. The "bird" base parts are laminated to 2mm thick. The "orange" (detail) parts are laminated to 1mm thick.
The support parts for the stand are assembled.
The support is fully assembled.
The base is assembled.
I applied the "orange" (detailed) parts.
I attached the support to the base.
The display stand is complete.
The Viper sits perfectly on it.

Thank you sir. It was a fun project. This is also technique that I would recommend to anyone who is looking at taking their models to a new level of detail.
Its similar to some videos I've been watching on YouTube making 1/12th scale props and buildings. I'm a retired commercial artist/graphic designer. I've designed displays for action figures and I'm working on my own comic book using custom action figures and mini movie sets and props. I may have to try building one of these. I love Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica. If you ever design a Turbo Bike I'd love to build one.
It is interesting that you mention designing a TURBO BIKE (from BSG); @Revell-Fan is currently working on the design of a template for a TURBO BIKE.
@Revell-Fan is also working on a larger scale (and very detailed) version of the Colonial Viper.
