After the box version, I decided to build Clay Regazzoni's Tatra in a slightly more elaborate version with a model chassis to which I will add a few details, including a simple interior...current status:

Thanks ;)

So I'm done...

A few words about the real car:

Clay Regazzoni (September 5, 1939, Porza, Switzerland – December 15, 2006, near Fontevivo, Parma, Italy) was a Swiss racing driver, Formula 1 pilot. He raced in Formula 1 from 1970 to 1980, winning 5 Grand Prix. After a serious accident at the 1980 US Grand Prix, he had to end his career in Formula 1. He was paralyzed in the lower half of his body and confined to a wheelchair, but he later continued to race, for example in the Paris-Dakar Rally. He also worked as a television commentator.
In 1988, he started the Dakar Rally with a Tatra 815 6x6, which was modified for manual control. Clay made an agreement with the cigarette giant Marlboro and painted the Tatra in its colors. But he had to withdraw in Algeria and did not finish the famous Dakar. In the same year, he still started at the Rally of the Pharaohs in Egypt, which he won. A year later, trucks were banned from the Dakar, so Clay sat behind the wheel of an off-road Mercedes G-class and the team's Tatra remained as an accompanying car. (in Chesterfield colors)

Model:

The model is based on the minibox version to which a model chassis was added. I tried to add a few more details...My modifications:
-glazed cabin and added simple interior
-highlighted and added details on the cabin
-improved wheels-not only the sides, but also the tread pattern
-added exhaust and rear position light
-made a mat based on the photo where the journalists are talking to Clay
-the car is a little dusty, especially the wheels and the bodywork around the exhaust

The model is simpler than the models that are now designed as minimodels in 1:100 scale, but you have to remember when this model was released (1989), it is the very beginning of all minimodels, which I definitely wanted to have in my collection (similar to other "Dakars" from WDS)

A few words about the real car:

The Kopřivnice-based Tatra car manufacturer experienced a literally golden “Dakar” period at the end of the 1980s. Its crews were doing better than ever before, taking the top spots and, together with other Czechoslovak LIAZ specials, were among the most represented brands in the starting field. Tatra therefore came up with a very interesting idea, sending a “mobile spare parts warehouse” to the start. Since the regulations at the time did not allow any accompanying trucks as we know them today, the only solution to ensure service support for all the Tatras in the starting field was to send a “sharp” service colossus to the competition. The mobile warehouse and service became a specially modified Tatra VT 815 28 265 8x8.1. According to the main sponsor (Total company) it was nicknamed "Total Tatra" and under the banner of the French company Strager (Jean-Pierre Strager was the importer of the Tatra brand to France) it started with the crew of Samson/Buchtyár/Kalina as part of the truck category. It carried all the necessary tools on its back, including the ND for all 14 Tatras that started in the 1988 edition. (source:proficars.sk)

So I started another Dakar Tatra, this time my favorite TOTAL... The model released by WDS can be built in 3 versions - BOX version (I recently built that one from ABC), then with model chassis and finally with open doors and bodywork... I'll try to build a closed version as soon as possible and then an open version... I'll try to make a simple interior again... so far, the cut parts:

On ebay, TEMU or elsewhere you can buy plastic figures in various scales (I have bought from 1:25 to 1:250). I buy them white and I modify and paint them myself as needed. (The colored ones are usually more expensive and are not painted well) ;)

So I've added a simple pad and it's a little dusty. A little summary:
