Afternoon all!,
Nice day here today and it could get to 80! Back to the 60's tomorrow though.
My posting will be sporatic over the next week or so as Spring break started here today and the young ones do not got back to school until the 24th! Daughter is in NYC on a musical tour with the HS Choir and Theater Club group. So far she is having a great time. They have a musical scheduled each day and they will get to see RENT before it closes in a few weeks. Son is off to Colorado for Church Ski trip.
Sooooooooo...the wife and I are "empty nesters" for a few days...annnnnnddd that means we have the house to ourselves.....we will be pretty busy the next week :thumb::twisted:aussie:driver1::band1::woot1:

Yes grits are good for tire patch,potholes,brick mortar,sticking pictures on a wall,patching holes in a dam. Hide the rust on a car before the sale,yep lots of things,just don't eat them.

It is a proven fact ( straight from Buckeye ), that Grits are nothing more than LUMPY Cream of Wheat. They will make you nasty ( like Chief ), and shorter ( like Roy ), and increase the aging process.
When cooked, they smell bad and are totally banned in Beautiful Ohio.

Good afternoon folks
It has been a rough 18 hour around here. We just got make from taking my father-in-law to VA Hospital in Wilmington for his yearly check-up. He is 74 but acts up like a little kid when he has to do this trip. By the time we get home everyone is so frazzled. He argues with everyone and lies to the doctor thinking it will get him out faster. We keep trying to explain to him that the doctor has to see him once a year and do blood test so they can keep prescribing his medication which he gets at a substantial discount. He thinks because he talks to the doctor on the phone and tells them he is fine that is all they need. Since he is diabetic we keep trying to explain to him why they have to see him. Well today perhaps he learned as they added a blood pressure medication to his regiment.
The other thing that has me down is last evening after we got home from Cub Scout training around 9:30 PM we received a phone call. As we always say no good news comes at that time. One my best and oldest friends from high school passed away suddenly at the age of 45. He had been sick for a few days with a cold and had seen the doctor and they could not find anything. Then late Wednesday his wife said after he went to bed he started acting delirious. She immediately got their oldest son and started to take him to the hospital. They made to the living room and he collapsed. The doctors said he was most likely gone immediately from massive heart attack. Since then I have been in a state of disbelief. In high school and through college we were always together. I was a groomsman in his wedding and he was one in mine. Although we only saw each other once or twice a year we talked every few months or emailed one another keeping up on things. The last time I saw him was at his son’s high school graduation party in the summer. We were supposed to get together over Memorial Day. I spoke with him about two weeks ago right after the death of another classmate. The viewing is Sunday night and the funeral on Monday.
At least tonight we will busy. My son has guitar lesson followed by basketball practice. Tomorrow my daughter has travel softball practice in the morning and regular softball practice in the afternoon and my son has a semi-final basketball game in the afternoon also. Sunday other than the viewing we have nothing planned.
I may try to spend some time modeling. I think it will be somewhat therapeutic. Not sure what I’ll do.

I guess it's time to put my car in the shop again. I was coming in from town a while ago and had to slow down for slower traffic. I pressed the brake pedal and it went to the floor, I mean ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR! I pumped the pedal and the brakes came back. I checked the wheel rims to see if there was any brake fluid leaking out, couldn't find any. The brake reservoir is full so that's not the issue. This has bad master cylinder written all over it.

I actualy have some instant grits some where around they were not that bad. Along with grits you should try bbq pork rinds, roasted corn nuts(good) When I had a job that overworked me I got addicted chillie chesse corn chips and texas bbq corn chips.
Tom and anyone who has fallen on difficult times I am sorry for your loss and your time of greif. A lot of the kids I grew up with are nolonger with us 4 in auto accidents

Ran my trains for about 1.5 hrs tonite, NO PILE UPS. I almost bought a Lionel GP 7 today while at BARRYs, but declined and instead ordered a NS DASH 9 break up from the set by LIONEL along with the dummy. Don't know cost yet on the account that BARRY wasn't there. But its about 95% a sure bet that he will break up set and sell me the engines, I HOPE?

Me on the other hand at 68 my list just keeps getting longer. HS class of 57,apx. 230 students,34 known to be gone and that does not take into account those not found after they left school. At my age its expected but in your 40s it a big loss.
Weather was nice today, I noticed the bulbs have broken through the ground,so we are on our way at last. No trains today but they are waiting for me and ready to go,,,,S.J.
