Coiled steel for Toronto

Here's an example of some of the operation I've been trying to include while working on the layout. Even though trains run through unfinished areas or past half built buildings I wanted to be sure that the layout would remain interesting after it was all "done"

Here two gondolas loaded with steel coils are pulled out of the rolling mill by the Kings Port Steel Lil' Critter.

They're left on a siding to be picked up by a passing local....

The local arrives a few hours later (not in real time! )

The locos leave the train, back into the siding, and pick up the gondolas...

Underway they travel for miles, seen here rolling around the double tracked curve at Marion....

Finally at West Mill Jct. the gondolas are uncoupled from the train and backed onto an interchange track with the CN....

Where they are later picked up by a tiger striped CN Geep. On to Toronto and Val's busy factories!

Great pics! Like to see the little hustler earning it's keep. Still got the rubber band drive? I've got one I picked up new in the box at the LHS for a steal. It was on the shelf so long the rubber bands had rotted away. Wonder when they quit makin' 'em?
