Chopper motorcycle build progress

More build progress. Attached the brake pads to the disc brakes. Started work on the front headlight using aluminum foil and air drying clay. Did some more work with the exhaust pipes. I know this is long and drawn out but I warned you guys that this was going to last a couple of weeks or more. Hopefully some of you are getting some enjoyment out of this and maybe some helpful ways to learn scratch building.

More progress for today. I'm getting the handlebars ready with wooden dowel rods. Got some air drying clay set for the seat. I've formed the headlight with clay around aluminum foil on the inside & painted it. I used some dowel rods and cardstock paper to make the exhaust pipes, and I sanded them and they're ready for chrome paint. I also mounted the gas tank on the frame.

Getting close to the home stretch. Got a lot of parts done and on the bike, including the exhaust pipes, handlebars, foot controls and the seat. Got started on the side view mirrors. Will paint them the same color as the bike base color which is metallic gunmetal gray. I've attached the front headlight and the clutch controls on the handlebars. The photos might look like the bike is done but not quite, getting close.

Thanks, my goal in doing this is to maybe inspire model builders to try to build their own models from scratch as I have been doing and not have to spend a ton of money on plastic models at the hobby store.

The cost of plastic models is one of the main reasons why I started out building paper/cardstock models. Ever since I discovered paper/cardstock model templates, (for the most part) I have no desire to go back to plastic models.

Hi guys, I've still got some work to do with this chopper motorcycle before it's done but since it won't be long before it is done, I'm wondering if you guys would like me to do another build thread on a different model. If you do there are many choices:
A hot rod model:

A dragster car:

A chopper trike motorcycle:

A tank:

Or another chopper motorcycle:

And I almost forgot, an F-1 formula race car:

Let me know. In the meantime I'm going to continue on finishing the build on my current model for now. Thanks for continuing to follow my work

Post build threads on whatever you wish. Build threads are a great way of show off your work and skills. Not only that, but if you run into an issue with a model you can highlight the area that you are having problems with and we can offer you some suggestions on how to deal with them.

Thanks for getting back to me guys, now that I know you'd like me to continue this I'll pick something out. As far as my progress, I've posted some more photos of my bike build. Got the mirrors done. I also got the cables coming from the handlebar grips attached. Currently working on the speedometer read out and I think the bike should be done except for the stand and display case.

I really like that trike, where have you been hiding that? I was going to purchase a real Suzuki GS1000G to convert into a trike, but the "bassturd" sold it out from under me. I drove 1.5 hrs. there to pick it up. Needless to say, I was quite angry. He made the mistake of showing me a couple of other bikes he had for sale. What I latched onto was a 2004 Kawasaki ZZR1200, the fastest carburated motorcycle ever made, still holds that record., 186 to 189 mph (depending on air pressure that day).

This bike had 4375 original miles on it!

I told him since he owed me, I'd take that Kawasaki for $2200 dollars, he begrudgingly agreed (it's a $5K dollar motorycle). The local dealership had just rebuilt the carbs. All I needed to do was put on new tires (old, not worn) and she was ready to go.

The Kawasaki was chain drive. Converting that to a trike is kind of messy, and really stretches the chain out too much.

That's why your trike interests me, if all had gone as I planned, I'd be riding a trike too right now.

Have you ever done any kit bashing? Using parts from other designers that are O.K. with it? "Lou Dogg's" chopper has a fantastic engine. It's worth building the engine alone and putting it on a stand. It's in the RESOURCE section.

I didn't know you're into chopper trikes as well. Now that I know that I'll start my next building thread on building a chopper trike motorcycle. Sounds like you might have quite the motorcycle collection. I've included some photos of all the chopper trike motorcycle models I have.
