This is just a test. I have attempted to put up an Avatar, and I just want to see if it works. No reply required, unless somebody has suggestions to offer or wants to know more about the picture.

Yup, that's me. It all happened at the NRHS Board Meeting a few weeks ago. We spent the morning at the Republic Locomotive factory and all got a chance to actually run that beast, if only for a few hundred yards. They make industrial locomotives that are really "state of the art." A simple joystick to go forward and back; and, if you're going a little too fast, just put the joystick in reverse and activate the dynamic brakes. The loco can also be run with a remote control pack.
I think the present Republic Locomotive is different from the one you refer to. This one is a relatively new company, although they have been around for a few years. They started doing rebuilds, but now their market is entirely industrial locomotives, not just for the US, but places like Siberia, too. They had another one on display that was headed for Siberia in a few days. They also had an old siderod "critter" that they had taken in on trade and liked so much they kept it for their yard switcher. Check out their web site at Home page - Republic Locomotive.
Yes, this is the Republic I meant. New Locomotives - Republic Locomotive The lower two engines on the left and the one at bottom right are the Republic engines I know.
