I'm having trouble with PETG. I have found I have to wrap the machine with heavy blankets to hold in the heat. I tried raising the bed temperature, but that causes deformities, such as corners to rise up. I printed a 14" high "Dummy13", I scaled high up 200%, a big boy, out of PETG, and that was the first time, after wrapping it up with a quilt, it came out perfect. I have no trouble with PLA, on the boat Hulls I design and loft, or anything else.
I find that most of the .3mf files you download, you had better get the .stl files, as they are just set up wrong. I did a Lear Jet, I converted it into a NURBS model, it made it easier to work with. I exported it as an .stl file. The Creality found like 8000 manifold problems, it took about a minute to fix. That allowed me to remove the wing, stand everything up straight, and I always make my own supports. The model has come out excellent, I've give a few away to nephews.
I found that you can cut the .stl mesh with the "MESHBOOLEANSPLIT" command in Rhino8. 3D models just come out better in Rhino8 because of the NURBS (NON UNIFORM BEZIER CURVES) and that geometry lines up edges, I think, in my opinion those triangles are non euclidean curves, triangles, whose angles can never equal 180 degrees. In the .stl mesh with the above command, export everything was you wish to appear on the table, and the Creality Slicing software will fix any broken manifold edges extremely quickly. It's the best I've software I've used. I don't use the "3mf" files, I use the "G Codes" that I generate. Once I master that coding, I will be able to stop the machine, then add ready made supports, and then contiue, without wasting filament.
I tried Bambu's and Prusa, but they just didn't work well on my machine, which is odd, as these software programs are just generating "G Codes", and that shouldn't matter on any machine.
People post models with horrific parabolic lines, as the.stl layers do not follow a curve, they are always flat, curved only from an above view. That why you see steps on a plane's wing, which should be smooth. Standing that up that wing vertically will leave absolutely no curves, you get an incredibly smooth surface. A little more effort yields a fantastic result.
Those kind of models have to be split up, and rearranged to get smooth surfaces. It's amazing the crap people will post on Makerworld. I offer advice, many thank me. They keep raising my Badge, but because I have a Creality K1Max, I can't earn tokens.
Kind of stupid really. IMHO
