Hello all One more update, pretty small. So, I made and mounted the side waterline ports and then moved to main water hose casings. These are represented as 4 red tubes mounted on the rear compartment roof. I really don't like making long thin tubes from paper, especially when the parts are...

Skeleton frame vs sections in aircraft models

Sometimes you can loose this pesky mm in the middle. That means that the frame should be disassembled to do the sandwich trick. Assuming it can be disassembled with no damage...

Skeleton frame vs sections in aircraft models

I can manage the wing thicker than needed. Sand paper rules here. But if the fuselage skeleton is too short, that's it, the frame goes to garbage

Skeleton frame vs sections in aircraft models

Thanks everybody! I tried to build several models designed with skeleton frame. I had serious issues with fitting of parts. Maybe I used incorrect cardboard. I like the "skin" method proposed here, maybe I will give it a try

You bet there will be a new project. The list is long as the length of the exile, as we say in Israel.

Skeleton frame vs sections in aircraft models

Hello all Just a question There are two ways of building aircraft models, one by making segments with wrapping and formers and then connecting them and another is making skeleton frame and then covering this frame with "panels" To be honest, I almost hate the skeleton method. I thought that...

Thanks Zathros. I really like making this model, despite the design issues and the mistakes I made. One of the reasons is that I have so many powerful childhood memories about these fire trucks. And yes, we don't really see "everyday" vehicles, as you put it, made into models, especially paper.

Hello all Started the rear compartment. I had to form the cover by two walls, which was not an easy task. Finally I managed to form it, but if the part wouldn't be covered by thick layer of Americans finish, it would be too flimsy. There is no former inside. Pump compartment was glued to rear...

Hello hello and welcome back. I like how you said it's a big part about something that is smaller than a peanut, a pealed one. :-) Great work!

Hello all I finished the pump compartment by adding the pipes, pressure gauges and valves turn handles. The red tubes were made by tightly rolling regular office paper, glued and colored red with Carrioca felt tip pen. Nothing too difficult just need to be careful because of small size

Hello all. This weekend I didn't advance on the model too much, just started the main pump compartment. Nothing too difficult here. Only day after I have noticed that there is a water drop on the part. This will not be seen after closing the compartment, so I won't redo.

Hi all One more small update I just had to finish the warning lights. In USSR, the warning lights for firefighters vehicle could be mostly blue, rarely red. Nothing too difficult here except the size of the base. We're talking about 1 mm wide strip...
