And now the correct main lower shrouds attached

So now a beeg boo-boo in the instructions. If you follow them for the main lower shrouds you end up with a shrouds that are not wide enough, and the vertical ropes/strings are not aligned correctly. You can see below; Instruction shroud on the left, re-done one as per the deadeyes on the right.

Foremast stepped and shrouds attached, you can see the mainmast getting attention :)

Could have done that with the old one.... (before it was thrown away ;( )

I like the idea, but not with HMS Victory...

The acid in the wee would actually corrode, so no ;) Teabags, in particular a variant we get in South Africa called Rooibos (red bush) that doesn't taste like anything but stains wonderfully!

Now the stern is complete! Moving onto the rigging, first the upper shrouds Airfix provide these lovely jigs, as you see I have 3 (from the Victory, Wasa and an old one). The instructions give you the guide which notches to use, and ta-da. I then use wood glue, liberally spread over...

THe kits normally give clear instructions. I'll post tips when I get there

So here we go, masts assembled Now I'm going to deviate from the instructions which call for the yardarms to be attached now. Since I'm doing cloth sails they need to be stitched to the yard before attachement. I think I may do the standing rigging I can before this step. If you're curious...

Good point Zathros. It's interesting that the colours in the instructions seem to have changed from when I first built the Victory

Now the for'ard and midships parts of the deck complete, deadeyes attached (you can see the poop deck attached. Stop sniggering @Chuffy!)

All mine are in glass cases, prevent the feline and accidental destruction :)
