Penn Central and the Water Tower

Great modeling, Tom. I particularly like the weathering of the wheels and trucks. Really makes the details stand out in your pictures. Stuart.

Feb. 06, Trains, Planes and Automobiles

planes, trains and...steam tugs hello everyone, here is a scene from the piers of Baltimore. I am not sure if it qualifies as an entry because I did add water in Photoshop, as well as steam from the tug. I also added an exhaust plume in the sky from a passing overhead jet airplane. With the...

    weeding out the ghost towns...

By the way, a company called Malibu international sells really nice HO scale cars-highly detailed. And Walmart is selling them for $1.68 !!! I highly recomend these if there are any . This 55 Belair is a real beauty.

    weeding out the ghost towns...

Here is a shot of the crew of the Fells Point Towing Company #6 steaming out of Baltimore Harbor to escort a banana boat over to the piers of locust Point. I have been playing around with the water effects in Photoshop trying to create the waves and ocean spray coming off the front of the tug...

    weeding out the ghost towns...

One of the things I think are missing from many otherwise fine model railroad photos, are the inclusion of figures. Some fine examples of model railroads sometimes resemble a ghost town with nary a soul in sight. That being said, how about a thread where modelers on the gauge showcase some of...

    Papa Bear's Layout Party

Look forward to seeing how the layout comes along, nothing like the thrill of bare plywood, and all the ideas of grandeur that come with it. One question though, why are cats so interested in model railroading? Triscuit reminds me of my two cats...ardent model railroaders. They have NEVER not...

    pier pressure...

Happy weekend everyone. Thanks for the positive feedback, always good to hear as it lets me know I am going in the right direction. Glen, the tug is from a company called Model Expo and is called "steam tug Taurus". It is a beautiful kit I purchased about 8 years ago. My only regret is that my...

    pier pressure...

Good thing the crew is efficient this morning, cause the tugs are bringing in another car carrier full of hot freight. These particular cars will be interchanged with the Pennsy over in Canton, MD.

    pier pressure...

On a brisk winter day, the piers of Baltimore are bustling with activity. Steam tug #6, of the Fells Point Towing Company, is about to depart to pick up some reefers full of bananas across the harbor. Meanwhile, the stevedores go about their back breaking work on the piers loading and unloading...

    Zedob's Layout Party

Looks like you are making excellant progress, Zedob. I am impressed with how you have managed to to create multiple tiers of scenery layers. I think that that is why New England, with all its streams, bridges, trees and factories all densely packed along one another, is such a modeling...

    B&O switch crew/new caboose.

Thanks again for all the positive feedback from everyone and a thanks to Wayne for explaining the LPBS and LPPS. I got a good laugh out of it in my erroneous attempt to extrapolate the meaning, and mistakingly deduced it meant low photographic perspective or something or other. Little did I know...

    B&O switch crew/new caboose.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, but can someone explain to me what the terms "LPP'S and LPBs" mean? Thanks again, Stuart.

    B&O switch crew/new caboose.

The crew of the y122 is once again hard at work switching the Domino Sugars plant. The Conductor however, is happy {wich is rare} as his new crummy is fresh from the paint shop. It's not likely to stay that way for too long.

    Layout party???

Can someone point me to the original "layout party" thread. I am relatively new to The Gauge, and I am not sure if it part of the vernacular of The Gauge, or an actual thread. Kind of reminds me of when I was a new hire on the Chevy switch job,...lost. Hehe. Thanks, Stuart.

    Zedob's Layout Party

Looks like you are off to a great start. I was particulary impressed with your waterfall idea, from the pictures you have posted, it seems to be pretty effective. I always find it interesting how those of us with smaller layouts, cope with fitting all of the elements into a giving area. Lots of...

    Doubleheaded Mikes...

Nice roll by, I really enjoyed seeing a true mixed freight trundle down the tracks. Those bulkhead flats loaded and unloaded, as well as the flat cars and other rolling stock make for an interesting train. I can almost hear the clickety clack of the caboose's wheels diminishing as it goes...

    more cn mikes (part 2)

That Mikado is top notch, although I am a bit biased towards in general. Is that a brass sanding tower? the detailing is superb. Stuart.
