    IHC Passenger Cars

no worries Bob, I wouldn't worry about that curve. As long as your trackwork is good I bet you can run anything you want across it as long as you remeber to keep the scenery down around the curve so yoru car doesn't grab things. Despite what people say I can run the IHC that I have on 18"...

    Model RR comunity

terrific stuff I took a look at the man's site and my hat goes off to anyone that can scratchbuild like that. What Shamus is creating for the forests, this man is creating for the cities. Both men have a real skill.

    Model RR comunity

hobby shops I went into the local hobby shop here yesterday to look at Old Coal Mines and happened to hear the owner talking with another gentleman. He said that sales were pretty much shot after the Sept. 11th issue, and that he was keeping his shop afloat by selling things on Ebay. He is...

    IHC Passenger Cars

I would love to ditch the tight radius, but I am in a 1-bedroom apartment and this is power-loc track on carpet. Curves are certainly aggrevating the issue, but some are just bad cars. I am going to weight them and replace the pins on the worst ones. Andy, I have actually been able to run...

    IHC Passenger Cars

new pins I wrote IHC and told them the problem and specifically that the trucks were falling off and asked if I could have some new pins for the trucks were they join the car. They took my address and will ship out 4 of 'em with washers and that should work to fix a couple of the more...

    Another Project nearly finished.

What program? What program are you drawing those plans up in? I assume it is something that lets you specify the dimensions like a CAD program..? Out of curiosity is there a building you have not been able to build?

    IHC Passenger Cars

I think the cars are a little top heavy and I plan to weight them. The looseness in the trucks I feel is the biggest problem. I have some that are so loose when you pick the car up off the tracks, the truck falls off. I sent an email to IHC today so I will see what they suggest. In the end...

    IHC Passenger Cars

They don't wobble enough to come uncoupled (I am still using horn couplers on them). But they do lean far enough (especially if you are going fast enough) that I am worried about them derailing themselves around curves. For the most part I was wondering if it was normal for these long...

    IHC Passenger Cars

Well my first passenger cars arrived back on the 31st, and I had my first chance to open and run them last night. Of the 4 that I opened, 3 had trucks that fell to the floor the moment I lifted the cars out of the packaging. On the tracks, the cars lean and wobble horribly. I read that on larger...

    4-4-0 American by IHC

I too have an IHC Consolidated but both the tender and loco are wired for pickup and it never stalls (can't say that for my lifelike diesels). In fact I can run the loco by holding it in the air and touching the tender to the track.

    Diesel acceleration

Tech4 240 Hello Cactus, I was on another board asking about this powerpack and someone who had owned a 240 mentioned some interesting things. He said: The way you were talking about your controller it doesn't sound like it was this way. While I am looking to invest in a new controller I...

    Diesel acceleration

I found one on www.internettrains.com for $47...MRC tech 4 220...that is the one with the single knob and 3 switches? I believe I was looking at the right one. I like the sound of it, I will see if I can't talk my wife into it. ;) . Right now I am using a Life-Like basic powerpack that comes...

    Diesel acceleration

In watching these locomotives at the local yard (keep in mind that they don't use switchers, so it is pretty cool to watch 3 UP triple axels moving only 10 or 12 cars into place) it seems like they do "gun" the throttle until the engine starts to move and then slack off again. However I know...

    Cardstock weathering

somewhat Occasionally you will find one that is accurate, but for the most part they only settle for being close to accurate. Sometimes they will advertise a specific structure, such as a specific station, and when you compare it, it is only a rough-cut example of the original. I don't...

looks great That pub looks great Woodie, I wouldn't have ever guessed it was cardstock, and I didn't notice any boo-boo's on it??? The Dover Publications buildings are not of that quality, which is good for someone like me with no real model-building skills.
