    3X4 N-Scale plan

Construction Begins! Well, I have started construction of the layout. Here's what I decided to go with. Reduced the size back to around 3' X 4' to keep the local "authorities" happy. Use Tileguy's idea for a fiddle yard extension. Keep the track plan simple. I'll post some more pictures as...

    The Uxbridge Central Progress

Looks great, Dave! :thumb:I used a similar table top for my earlier N scale layout and am planning to do something similar for my next layout. You're right, it is amazingly light. Try moving a layout that size made out of 3/4" plywood!

    My layout begins

Here's something to get you started. It's hard to model a river crossing on a small layout. Once the river crosses the tracks, you have to either provide a second bridge on the other side of the loop or try to hide the "end" of the river behind scenery. Here, the river is on the edge of the...

    My mini N layout

Hey FiveFlat, I used that track plan for my first layout. I subtituted 11" radius sectional track for the 9 3/4". Later on, I "expanded" the layout by adding some more spurs and a yard. It all fit on a 3'X4' table. It was a good track plan and served me well for about 10 years. Lots of...

    Plan critique requested

Welcome to The Gauge, Astrowolf! I suggest putting in a runaround track on the inside loop - one that you could use without fouling the outer loop. Be sure to post some pictures when you get started.

    Some pics of my layout

Excellent work, Jack! I love the river scene. Only thing that would make it look better is some Barringer Red or John Deere Green diesels crossing the bridge.

Resurrecting a dead layout 30 years later

Fallen Flag RR Photos is a great site for looking for photos of old railroad equipment. There are photos available for most railroads. Just pick the one you want and browse through the photos. Usually, they have the date and location with the picture. Hope that helps.
