    Electric Locos

Both Kato and Tomix make an EF15 (1-C-C-1) which looks a little more like the wheel arrangement in the photo. Dick

    coupler for life like caboose

Assembled 1027's work fine on these cabooses, also. I have used both with success.

best brands of N scale locomotives

Brakie, it was explained to me that the noise was caused by the half-wave AC current the DCC system uses to carry signals to the loco. This can also cause a DC loco to heat up after a short time making it risky to run it too long. Dick

    Doodlebug - Spectrum

I have had two of them apart but it was over a year ago and my memory is slightly faded concerning exactly how they came apart. But, I believe I removed the shell by sliding small pieces of cardboard between the shell and the frame focusing on areas about 1" back from both ends and gently...

    Opinion on older locos?

I agree with Pete...... they either ran 15 minutes or 15 years. I still have 4-6-2's, 2-8-2's, and one 0-8-0 that still run but, I have several that are best called "yard queens". If you can get one that is still running well at a good price, snap it up! Make sure it will go in reverse, also...

    Life-like rolling stock?

I agree with Ray... the New England style caboose is the only game in town for us New England modelers but, with the advances they've made with their motive power, maybe rolling stock up-grades won't be far behind! :thumb: Dick

    Bershire

I recently picked up a Concor/Riavossi Berk in pristine condition. But, I also have, from the good old days, a pair of the original MRC versions, both of which still run nicely. I will want one of the LL models, especially if they're as nice as the Mallet.

Does this have to be specifically about "layouts" or does another project (like rolling stock) qualify?

    Couple dilema

I have all MT's or Accumates (Atlas) except for a few Unimates (non working knuckle couplers that will mate with MT's by hand) on some older locos. Atlas Accumate trucks and couplers are a little less expensive than MT's and, in my opinion, work as well. Unimates might be a cheaper...

    John Allen's Gorre and Daphetid

I'll probably get hanged either in effigy or in reality for shaking the windows in the halls of model railroading fame but, while I sort of grew up in MR-ing with the likes of John Allen and Whit Towers as the role models to emulate if you wanted to be a real modeler, the one's work was often...

    Nick Names in Chat

Yes, Dave Pilkey must be given the original credit for this which came to me by email from friends. After sending it to Jon while we were conversing in chat, I should have realized he was off his meds!!! However, anyone who knows Jon in chat knows he seldom logs on with the same nick so I...
