Brakie, it was explained to me that the noise was caused by the half-wave AC current the DCC system uses to carry signals to the loco. This can also cause a DC loco to heat up after a short time making it risky to run it too long. Dick

I recently picked up a Concor/Riavossi Berk in pristine condition. But, I also have, from the good old days, a pair of the original MRC versions, both of which still run nicely. I will want one of the LL models, especially if they're as nice as the Mallet.
