AT-ST Imperial Walker - from card model to costume

Update! Almost done with the walker. I put an MFD (Multi-functional display) in the cockpit which is actually the kids Android Tab 2 tablet they play their games on. It's camera looks out the viewport and they can see quite well that way. Whoever is in it can actually see out better more so...

AT-ST Imperial Walker - from card model to costume

Thanks! I've never used resin, is there a particular product I should get for this? is it fiberglass? I hear that stuff is pretty nasty.

AT-ST Imperial Walker - from card model to costume

Update! Sorry it's been a while, been working on the legs which are kind of hard to do. I had to downsize them so that this costume could fit my boys. But even as it is, when they put it on, it's pretty much in squatting mode or something, LOL! It looks great when it's taller. I should have...

    AT-AT finished

I just finished building the AT-AT from Sirius Replicas. It's a very nice build. I built the version with the movable/poseable legs. We had some good sun yesterday morning so I just went out and quickly shot these on a basic setup with a white fitted sheet, nothing fancy.

AT-ST Imperial Walker - from card model to costume

Here is my continued work on the large AT-ST walker costume for my kids. I've been constructing one of the legs. Since my kids are short for the thing, I have to make some modifications. This whole costume is a scaled up version of a paper card model found here...

The engine color is just a bright fluorescent red painted inside the clear engine piece, but the green metal edging painted on the outside of the piece.

I wish the wings did fold though. I'm sure there's a mod out there that allows for the wings to be positioned for the three modes of flight.

Klingon Bird of Prey AMT 1/350 scale

Thank you! That's what I was basing it off of, the studio model. I like weathering models. Sometimes the problem with CGI models (don't get me wrong I like CGI too, I build in 3D too), is that they are too clean, too shined up. I like grunged up sci-fi models. That's why I get into Star Wars...

Klingon Bird of Prey AMT 1/350 scale

Thanks!! I've never tried fiber optics, though I'd like to. I know, I sound so old-school-ish. I'd love to figure out how to do more lighting in my models. The light kit I got for my Enterprise refit is the first big use of lighting in a model.

Klingon Bird of Prey AMT 1/350 scale

Thank you! yes, I too had a lot of Star Trek models - most have never made it past 3-4 moves in the last 20 years, though. I have a 1/350 scale Enterprise Refit ready to be built, complete with Trek Modelers lighting kit. I stalled on that project, but I need to start on it again, it would be a...
