    Photo FUN week of 9/7

Many great shots so far, but I think my favorite is the construction scene! Here is a pic my dad took of me holding my son, next to BN-1 at IRM. I love this loco, and want to model it. This is actually only one part of an A-B-A lashup

Gary, as is true with everyone else, you are being hard on yourself. Everything looks good to me! I never even bothered masking my tracks or roadbeds, but I think I will after seeing these pics (whenever I get to work on my layout again)

Indiana Mom Attempts to Outrun Freight Train

This happened fairly close to where I live (I'm about 30mi west of Chicago), and saw it on the news last night. I feel bad for the children in this incident, but I hope that she stays alive in the hospital just long enough to realize what happened before she dies. On a side note, I have my...

    What makes a layout "realistic"?

The details in the scenery and on buildings, the way scenes are blended together, has to have SOME plausibility to the scenes, maybe a nice little story behind the layout (not how/why its built, but a ficitonal story about the railroad, the towns, etc). Stuff along those lines

    Union Pacific Modelers...

No, definitely not a fair comparison, I agree. The turbines were two seperate units together to make 166ft, and sure they made 10,000hp, but they weren't true diesel engines. So that is why I agree that the DD40 is the longest and most powerful diesel

    Union Pacific Modelers...

The guy at IRM I was talking to said the only other one is owned by UP (who else?) and is located in Cheyenne, WY. I thought he was talking about the one they have on display next to the bigboy. How big were the Turbines? I thought the plaque said they were 166ft, and had 10,000hp, or are you...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

    Union Pacific Modelers...

hey Deano, remember me? I also like UP, but my current layout is mainly BN. I did give it a fictional setting in the northern half of IL, so I could essentially get away with running UP and its properties, BNSF and properties, Metra, Amtrak, EJ&E, you get the picture

    progress on my layout

I have things I could be doing, with the supplies I already have, or with things found outside. But like I said, I don't have my layout at the new house *yet?*
