    Scanners?

The only time that a scanner is illegal in Canada is if you use it for personal gain, ie: ambulance chaser or tow truck trying to get business ahead of everyone else, with intercepting cell calls that falls under the privacy act. Radio shack in Canada does not sell scanners any more, as Siderod...

    question about flex track.......

I have a lot of code 100 peco switches, buy them at swap meets and clean/fix them up, can not justify the cost of replacing them with code 83. As I handlay most of my rail, I got a fab deal at a swap meet on code 83 rail so this is what i use. I attach the code 83 rail to a short length (aprox...

About 1pm today an east bound Canadian National train consisting of two locomotoves and 101 cars was proceeding east bound just east of here. As the train came out of a curve and onto a strait portion of track it was confronted with a large boulder that was on the track. This boulder was the...

It's MONDAY 11-1-04, weekend modeling accomplishments!

Tom, glad to hear that your son's team won the football game, must have been exciting watching. By the way Fred , I get more impaired drivers that are going slower than the speed limit than speeding. It seems as they know that they have had too much to consume so the are over causious and go...

    Layout stumped!

Hook, my advise, for what it is worth, is that since you are at that very indecisive stage I would go and do two things. One of them is get a copy of aWalthers catologue and the second purchases I recomend is got to a local craft store or hardeware store and purchase a roll of paper. You can...

    Too soft insulating track joiners

One other method to try...Dave just gave me and idea..I imagine you can get "snap track" here it comes in 18 & 22 inch radius in code 100 and 18 inch in code 83.. where your tracks join on the curve, and you require the insulator..how about taking a piece of snap track, cutting a piece that is...

    Too soft insulating track joiners

Ron, It appears as though you have already identifyed the problem, I agree that the plastic rail joiners do not have sufficient strength to hold the radius of the track.. I had that occur several years ago. Gluing,& ballasting and using the hardest joiners I could locate and even gluing them did...

    PLywood or Foam?

I have four of the modules that are going to make up part of the layout I have in the basement. I used 1/2 inch plywood then glued the 2 1/2 foam on top so I can cut out some land forms that go below the track level. On top of the foam I put a produce similar to homosote, called natrual dona...
