    Come along on our adventure

By the way, what do you guys think about the alley in between the buildings? We're thinking of making the alley just slightly wider than one car width -- this is probably realistic. We can then add trash cans, etc in the alley. We think we will make the alley "gravel asphalt"...

Ray, awesome idea :thumb: . I'll be looking for the window washing crew this weekend. I may decide to rip out and replace the plastic windows, but honestly, when you look at it live the windows actually look pretty clear. I think the camera flash might make it look worse that it really is...

Now that I look at it, this picture looks worse than it is. I am picking up the reflection off of the paint on the front of the building. Oh, well. Looks like the chaulk problem all over -- in real life (or proto-life) it looks much better -- the chaulk problem is not very evident -- more...

Here's a look at one of the model buildings that we are working on. The new one on the left is the one that was "hit" by the CA problem I referenced in my previous thread. :( We have tried to fix all of the chaulk like problems -- hope it doesn't show too much .:p In addition, we are...

Watch Out For Ca !! Guys, thanks all for your responses regarding the CA situation. I have to say, this is really frustrating! If this, in fact, is the case, that the CA glue fumes interact with the styrene, then you really need to keep it in the open air -- don't put the pieces you...

TW20, looks awesome! Congrats on the first model -- doesn't look like the first! What kind of ballast did you use underneath your structure? -- Cabdriver

Spitfire, They sit next to me for some of the posts and give me input into what to say, but for sure they are following/participating in this thread big time. Believe me, they are very opinionated (guess that is good). We'll post some family info soon -- school night and all tonight. Don't...

Yeah, that's why I was so amazed to see so many engines -- they were all fired up -- only thing I could think of was the weight of their load -- not too much grade here in east Texas.

Thanks. LiveSteamer. We were able to get up pretty close -- It still amazes me when I stand near five diesels and feel the whole ground shake from their power. Haven't seen that heavy a consist in a long time.

Spitfire, I can't even begin to tell you. They spent so much of today talking with me about our layout, modeling buildings (yet to be revealed -- and they are REALLY GREAT MODELERS OF BUILDINGS -- at leat I think they are -- skills brought over from many years of modeling other stuff)...

Spitfire, Thanks for the response -- I must have been posting the tree info when you responded. I strategized with the kids about this whole road thing and they had major opinions on how to do this (imagine that  ). We have now made the road asphalt in color, sanded it, then colored it...

No doubt about it. Probably left early morning from SA headed to Houston. I just hadn't seen one with so much gravel -- hopper after hopper fully laden with gravel.

Just that simple. Sent a private PM, all taken care of in less than 5 minutes. :thumb: Well done guys! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Wish I had that kind of response time at work :p

I just have to post one more picture. :) For those of you following our layout progression in the HO board, we are modifying the Worlds Greatest Hobby layout for our own liking. ;) Central to that layout, however, is a gravel company. Not only did we come across the UPs pulling the large...

Hey all. I've decided to open up a new thread that shows some pictures of our railfanning activities. We'll try to keep these pictures somewhat relevant to our layout that we are building -- you can find it in another thread. We live near a fairly lively UP line and yard -- never know what you...

    Scenery Tutorial?

Charles-Mark, We have had success using Woodlands Scenics Earth Undercoat (C1229). It lays down a greenish brown subsurface that is really great for adding ground cover. We slightly thinned it with a bit of water, then brushed it on our foam. The color took right away and did not come...

Ok, guys. Thanks, I think. Didn't mean to open up a hornets nest. :p I want to have a group of posts moved to a new thread or if not, delete them. I'll try to figure out how to ask the Moderators to do this.

Can someone please explain how to delete a post you have entered. I read the info in the FAQ and it says that if it is your post, you can edit it or delete it. When I click on the edit button at the bottom of a post I have made, it seems to only give me options of modifying the text, but no...
