    Scratchbuilding is dead, I guess

It's not that scratchbuilding is dead, but you just dont hear about it as much anymore. Magazines are cautious of putting a major building project in their pages which takes months of editions to cover properly because it overwhelms the people reading it and text (including internet BBS's) isnt...

Picture thread of your Logging, Mining, or unique industrial equipment.

Very nice :thumb: Tunnel loader spacing, well, you wouldnt want to lay on the main beam of a skellie while it was being shoved under

    Sawmill Carriage pictures

Thanks guys. Here's a bonus few pics of various other pieces at that particular Bee. Similar to a donkey's winch: My grandfather (may he RIP) took me to these shows as a wee one in the early 90's, and they were a lot more active back then. The sawmill and all the other...

    Sawmill Carriage pictures

The belts do take a bit of skill to align with a tractor. They like this method rather than using the stationary engine, as the tractors can be put in sheds whereas you can see what happened to the big one powering the A-frame which pulls logs off the deck and onto the carriage, bad winters and...

Intermodal fans! 16 miles of doublestack cars sitting idle in Montana.

Montana has ports. Inland, dry intermodal ports. Surely you dont think all those containers get shipped across north america from ship to train to ship again? :thumb: It's not lack of any kind of traffic, it's lack of product to be shipped. If i could i'd link to articles about locals...

Intermodal fans! 16 miles of doublestack cars sitting idle in Montana.

While i was in Havre last weekend for 4449, i got this video of 16 miles of well cars sitting empty on the old GN spur south to Great Falls. The description explains more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMeEsYhtssA I've got some friend's videos of 4449 there too and some other model/real RR...

Eastern Tn logging on the DG CC & W RR 1928

I like the strata and variations you've done, very nice :thumb: My only bit of advice is to throw a few white patches in some areas and then tone them down with a darker wash of some kind. Then again i've not seen many color pictures of where you're modeling so maybe i'm :p I'm looking forward...

    the output of digitrax zephyr

Not sure why a Zephyr is outputting 25V, most of the time while using one at the club we were lucky to get 14v at the farthest reaches of the layout, even with plenty of feeders. Ya sure you're not reading some accessory outputs? Have you had any problems running locos? Dont forget that the rail...
