    Whats a Yahoo! Slurp Spider????

Just the opposite. If The Gauge shows as a hit on a Yahoo search, it was found (generally) by a slurp spider. All a spider does is travel the internet looking for new (or changed) pages and reports those pages back to Yahoo (or Google or any other search engine). If a spider is found on a...

Will you be checking in today?

How many of you will be sneaking away from family and friends today to check in on the forums(s) of choice to see what's going on? I won't be back until at least this evening as we have to go out of town for the day. If I were home,I would be checking in every so often for the latest updates...

    Question for 12-14

I put in a three track yard. Then I put some buildings on the layout and laid track to them. Then I put in the mainline and passing siding through town. Then I build another town using the same method as above. Then I put in the rest of the mainline to connect the two towns. In other words...

As in overnight? Still doesn't help. I'm beginning to think I got a bad bottle of paint. I may splurge and buy another bottle. At those prices, I hope it doesn't break the bank.:thumb: Tom

    painting structures

I use that and other brands of acrylic paint and am right now experiencing the same difficulty. I put 5 coats on and could still see some of the gray primer beneath it. Then it dawned on me. When the second coat is painted on, it is actually softening the first coat since it's a water base...

    Off Topic-Scam warning.

This is the reason I have wires strung all over my house. I know security can be enabled on wireless routers but this way, I don't have to worry. A good firewall, a NAT enabled router, anti-spyware, and antivirus are an absoulte must in today's conneceted world. Tom

    Train too fast

The only way to do what you want (motor running at 6-8v while track is at 12v) is to use a resistor to reduce the voltage to the motor. I don't have the electrical knowldege to tell you what size. Perhaps some of our more knowledgeable members could jump in here. Tom

Some inexpensive tools - traveling tool sale

They come through here in the midwest about once a year. I have also picked up a few "treasures" for the shop. As you mentioned, the quality may not be the highest but the prices are right. Plan on taking some time to look around. I could never find a ryhme or reason as to how they are...

    Geez, What a Mess!

Here's more or less what mine looks like. I haven't done much over the summer so there are no projects scattered aobut. I probably won't be doing much in there for another couple of weeks. About the only change is a new drill press to replace the 20 year old drill press stand on the left. Tom

Tuesday the Third and Do You Read?

I subscribe to MR and Model Railroad News. In the summer time, I generally keep caught up on reading them but when winter hits, I'm usually too busy working on my trains to read aobut what others are doing. Just renewed my subsription to MR but am questioning the MRN. They do have a lot of...
