    On Track, with Deano

Well, this isn't a switcher, but I couldn't visit Steam Town without getting a shot of Big Boy for my good friend Deano: The loco looked a little rough, but I was assured that new paint would be applied soon. Wayne

    Rampaging railfans...

It looks like the situation with railfans is really getting out of hand, as these photos, taken at the Kiski Junction RR, in Schenley, PA. illustrate. (The photos were taken from the fan's confiscated camera.) While KJRR GM Charlie Bowyer walks ahead to throw a switch, an intrepid railfan...

    Puddlejumper's (lack of) layout progress...

Thanks, Gus. :-D I just now tried a Bachmann tender wheelset in the truck of my Proto 0-8-0, and the axle is a little bit longer and has a rounded end, as opposed to the needlepoint end on the Proto axle. You'll need to change out the entire truck if you use the Bachmann trucks, as the axle...

    Puddlejumper's (lack of) layout progress...

Some nice modelling going on here.;):-D Here's another John English "Yard Goat", in the weeds behind the Erie Northshore's carshop. Because it's almost right at the front edge of the layout, it's difficult to include all of it in a layout photo - as in the photos below, it's seen only on the...

    Incident at Indian Line

Thanks, guys. :) Maybe when I get back from vacation, Ill try to finish the story and post some pictures along with it. Kinda embarrassing having it out here on Page One and still unfinished.;):p:p Wayne

    Jim Shaughnessy mini gallery

Thanks for that great link. I've always enjoyed his photos, and his comments are interesting, too. Classic Trains magazine has been running a short feature article on Shaughnessy in recent issues. I like that view of the Ten Wheeler in St. Thomas, and the shot that looks like it was taken...

    Wanted: Atlas SD35 Chassis

Sorry, I can't help with a chassis, but you could also use one from the Atlas SD24, as it's the same chassis. Wayne

    Weekly Foto Phun 10/10-10/16

I'd guess that the 1/16" would be the closest: in HO scale that's just under 6" - I think that may be undersize for most present-day roads, though, but the 1/8" would scale out to almost 1', which I think is too wide. Wayne

    Weekly Foto Phun 10/10-10/16

Josh, most tape "loses its grip" before too long, and I think that electrical tape applied flat (as opposed to wrapped around a wire) will fail, too. Why not use masking tape to mask the road for application of an actual painted stripe. You can make broad curves with the tape as it comes, or...

    Weekly Foto Phun 10/10-10/16

If you need masking tape of a particular width, simply cut it to suit from a wider tape. To do this, peel off a suitable length and place it, sticky side down, on a clean sheet of glass. Use a straightedge to ensure that it's placed straight on the glass, with no curves or wiggles. Using a...

    Scrap yard

Thanks, Gus. I had an ending planned for it, but it just seemed kinda hokey, so I let it die. Then, of course, as time passed, I forgot about it. I have some more photos somewhere, mostly of the wrecked truck in a MoW gondola. If I can come up with a more believeable ending, I'll finish the...

    I Quit too

Good one, Charlie, with the title of your thread: you "got me" with that one. ;):-D Congratulations on your accomplishment - it's nice to know that you'll still be around (in more ways than one!) :thumb::thumb: Wayne

    Alco / EMD compatibility

That's true, and that "apartment building" isn't in the background, either. ;)sign1sign1 Still, yet another example of "a prototype for almost anything". Wayne

    Scrap yard

Looks great as usual, Ralph, but I agree: a little more dirt and rust would make it look even better. Here's another example of a "crushed car". ;) Incident at Indian Line... Wayne

    Alco / EMD compatibility

That is an interesting story, Squidbait, but are you sure that loco in the linked photo isn't one of Jeffrey's conversions? ;):p:-D:-D Wayne
