Build the bridge first or build the gorge first

Great work doctorwayne! You do truly inspiring work. Chaparral, I had the same problem when I started. To be truly protptypical, build the ground first and then custom build your bridge to fit, with some minimal "grading" work if needed. Having said that, I did the opposite for my...

    worlds greatest hobby tour KC

Just got back from the WGH show in Sacramento. Maybe I was expecting too much but I was a little dissapointed. Looked at everything and was done in under two hours, including lunch. Almost no HO to speak of, mostly N and O. Some pretty good club layouts though. Here's the daily tally. Gas...

    worlds greatest hobby tour KC

There's one in Sacramento, CA this weekend. I'll probably go tomorrow if we're not under water. From the commercials I've seen there may be a LOT of kids. Doc

    Trestle question

I used round piles with a pile cap and a trestle on top for a lake crossing. Don't know if its prototypical or not. The first pic shows the structure and the second shows it in place. Doc

    Well intentioned railroad gifts

Last Christmas, Ms. Doc got me an Lionel Outlaw car, the one with the sheriff and outlaw popping up and trading shots at each other. Just the thing the BAD Western needed. Unfortunately the one she bought on ebay was O scale and I model HO. DOc

    Which regions/areas do you model?

Like Gus and Robert, I model the American southwest. Unlike them however, I've been all over it. I chose it because it is what most people think of when conjuring up images of the "Old West" so it is a fitting home for the BAD Western. Doc

    Inspiration

Here's a pic of my first atttempt using ceiling tiles. I broke them up into pieces about the size of my palm and glued them in place using LN for foam projects. I then scraped them with a fork to blend them together. Next came a heavy cost of KILZ primer, then latex paint. I did have to...

    Miscellaneous HO scenery

After looking at the slot car and doing some on-line poking around, I don't think it really is HO, although the site lists it as such. From what I've found, slot cars come in three sizes, the smallest of which they call HO. It is really about 1:63 scale, not the 1:87 scale used for model...

    Miscellaneous HO scenery

Good luck on the Delorean. I've been looking for one in HO scale for three years. I'm modeling 1885 and want to do the one from BTTF III. I saw one post where a guy had scratch built one. Right now I'm trying to kitbash a Lamborgini. Let me know if you find one. Doc

Erratic operation of a ready to run MRC in Roundhouse Engine

I certainly hope that the kind of problems you're having aren't within the performance spec. I was just about to buy the same unit when I saw your thread and am anxiously awaiting the resolution, especially whatever Roundhouse has to say. Where did you get yours, if you don't mind my asking.
