Railfanning the BN High Prairie Sub

Thanks! It sure is nice to see some progress! Lately, I have been busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest! In other words, progress has ground to a halt...

    wanted: B30 shells

You and me both. I want to build about 3 BN B30-7A's, the BN-only cabless versions. Per conversation in email I had with Atlas; "I do apologize for taking so long. The spare body shells have not come in yet per the tech Wayne. They should be coming the middle of December...

Railfanning the BN High Prairie Sub

Thanks folks! Little did I realize, till I posted the pics here, that the ballast bucket & ballasting tools and a roll of duct tape were in the background of the very first picture!! OOps! I need to finish painting that tan color on the entire west side of the layout, and finish...

Railfanning the BN High Prairie Sub

After taking a short lunch break, our railfan is back in Coure D'Alene, ID, ready for more action. It doesn't take long for something to catch his eye. Across the yard, at the gravel tipple, a ballast train led by a CB&Q Redbird Geep 20 is spotted at the loader: It wasn't too long after...

Railfanning the BN High Prairie Sub

A local railfan was busy last night... Here we see M-PASKCK, in the big cut near Granite, ID, headed by a pair of BN Deuces: In this shot, a local job with SP&S 45, an aging SW9, in the lead with a cut of empty centerbeam/bulkhead flats to head back onto the Kettle Falls branch to be...

    TigerMAC!!!

Mike, if you can shave off that little protrusion on the light casting holder, the black thing that keeps the cab from lighting up, the one on the very end that goes under the forward end of the long hood, assembly is much easier. Disassembly is the part that makes me soo mad! The hardest part...

    TigerMAC!!!

This is the last one I plan on doing. The paint job is easy, but the disassembly of these beautiful beasts is enough to make a preacher swear!! If they could come as a kit of disassembled parts, I may rethink the above statement. They are fun to build, though! I have it on TSAWDMH, as it...

    My Z-Scale SD45

My wife knew better than to allow me to hold that SD45 when I saw it.. Being brass, I'll bet it weighs a bunch. I like Z, but those TEENY rail joiners are a PAIN to install!!!

    My Z-Scale SD45

Great shots, SmolderZ! I have some Z, too, well, my WIFE does... I almost begged for the AZL BN SD45 I saw at Caboose Hobbies in Denver... If they had it in GN, it would have been all over but the cryin'!!! MT Z scale F7 next to an N scale SD40-2:

    Six-Week-Challenge: Great Northern X1-X30 series Slant-Cupola Cabeese!

This one is gonna be a doozie!!! Warning to dialup folks, this is image-heavy! The prototype: OK, I started late last night, and as of today, I have the basic caboose structure done. It really looks neat, and it's not painted yet!!! From the top, here's how it came from a basic...

    Affordable near N gauge SUVs

Too cartoonish? Not after some real quick mods, and touch-up... All I did was remove the unprototypical 'skirting/body kit',shave the undercarriage to match, and painted mirrors silver, underbody flat black, and glued the wheel assy back under. They all need new wheels/tires also, unless they...
