    My Open House = Successful

I held my first open house in conjunction with the San Jacinto Model Railroad Club Fall Layout tour over the weekend. There were about 85 different layouts on tour in the Houston area. I wasn't sure how many people would visit me, due to my location south of Houston, plus the weather had turned...

    trains dont always win

Even jumping from the train seems deadly, in that you would have rolling stock coming from both directions with possible derailments and the cars could end up even with the engine if not past it.

    trains dont always win

The force behind a collision like this just boggles my mind. Thousands of tons of metal at speed = astonishing kinetic energy. At least it wasn't a direct head-on. Still, what a disaster. Do all most locos have a camera onboard these days?

    Wiring a reverse loop

Errr..... kevin..... I'm kinda worried about ya. The hobby of model railroading is typically beset with minor problems on a day to day basis. There is always something to go wrong or require adjustment or cleaning. And if you have a temper, and like to throw things, I just hope it isn't a...

    DN163A2 Troubles N Scale

According to the Digitrax Decoder Manual, Configuration Variable 29 controls the direction of the loco. The factory default for CV29 is 006. If you change this to 007, the loco should run in the other direction. CV29 also controls several other things. Go to the Digitrax website and you...

    Wiring a reverse loop

Exactly. The reverse loop and the rest of the track will need seperate buses. One is fed by the reverse loop module, one is fed normally.

kooter, concerning your use of DC, how many trains do you plan to run at the same time? Just one? Or more than one? This will affect the way you wire your layout for DC. Once we know this, we can give you some pointers for wiring.

    Slow start up BLI M1a

You are talking about programming the CV for starting voltage? I can't speak for the actual decoder that you have, but on the digitrax decoders I use, the start voltage CV can be set between 0 and 255 where 0 equals 0 volts and 255 equals maximum volts. To figure the actual voltage, you would...
