You might want to try cleaning the wheels on your locos and the track.
Are the problem points on turnouts or bridging the insulated sections or anywhere at all?
I haven't priced any of that in a long while. I usually manage to get most of my wood for the price of carting it off. I'll look at it when I get to the Despot err Depot .
I'm not so certain that the response has been negative.
Fred was trying to see why DCC brought forth a lesser need for good electrical contacts (it does precisely the opposite).
Sorry operating from memory here only one browser window open, one other party was asking what was busted...
I have one from the mid '80s that is a very good puller.
It was the first loco I ran as loco 0 with my new DCC system. With a bit of cleaning, a small amount of lube, and fiddling with driver wheel gauge it still is a real nice hauler.
I don't know about any of the newer units, so I won't...
Up here I can go to a couple of actual lumber mills and custom order. I also have access to some old well dried lumber but that is best used for other things.
The stuff I ripped is fine for mounting 1/4 " plywood on but is of no real use otherwise.
Here is a helpful guide on lumber...
Home Depot has plywood in smaller 4' x 4' and 2' x 4' sizes. You'll pay more for it than a 4' x 8' but it is easier to handle for the average model railroader.
I'm going to try getting to the lumber yard this week. I did a little bit more prep work in the basement today. Got the old pump...
Straight warp free lumber is very very expensive, the best way to get what you need is to rip 1/2 inch birch plywood.
Get it from a place that will cut it for you if you can't handle the long straight cuts.
I have a pile of old well dried 12" + pine that was used for shelves in a store...
Some hobby shops have also been known to setup the decoder with the road number as the address ... give it a try ... there also is a decoder reset procedure for that decoder. Down load and read the manual from the Atlas website.
I own a couple of those pups and they work quite well.
But Larry black ties are for formal get dressed up and go to really expensive places.

I don't care if they give both the phone and the service away.
I don't ever want to have one again. You can also put bleeping beepers in the same category.
Just wait a bit the blues are all heading to Canada ... our poor freinds up there will have to put up with them. Of course as soon as they get there however they'll complain about the temperature being too cold.
The good thing about the do not call list is if you have access to the web guvment don't have to lift a finger, you put yourself on it.
Trust a bunch of lawyers? One would have to be crazy to do that. I'd want the lawyers on a choke chain where I could give it a really hard yank every...
Scott,
I was a very effective pre-emptive strike on the telemarketing crowd.
Since some 3 million cell phone numbers got added to the do not call list.
shaygetz,
Any chance of using that land to plant telemarketers instead
Val,
Looks like you are a lot further along than I am. It is good to see things progress.
Great space to have and it looks like you are doing it up in fine fashion .
Maybe after the holidays I'll get to the hammer, saw, and nails end of things.
I knew better than getting one of those things.
I spent from 1976 to 2001 tied to a beeper/cell phone setup.
I also registered with the do not call list back when it came out.
If I get a political, survey firm, or non profit calling they get the one of two things the riot act read to...
Darn and I was going to use some shocking pink stuff for my pike when it got to that point.
Woodland Senics sells different colors and sizes of "ballast" so you can "mix and match".
