    Finally The CVR goes public

Just a note for long time Guage members... In the 4th picture above, the shelf high on the wall is a two part diorama. On the left is a piece of Robin Matthysen's layout (Matthyro) with one of his cerealboard stations and an industry as well as a GP38 and 4 passenger cars custom painted...

    Finally The CVR goes public

Been busy this weekend. Here are some shots. This first one is from the front door of our apartment. Then around the room... what a mess. Room is 3mx3m or 10'x10'

To DCC or Not To DCC...that is the question.

Been doing more reading, now I am confused... Hare, Wabbit, Stationary decoders.... which to get, or get none and power them all with a wall transformer (black box) and mount toggle switches in the fascia.

To DCC or Not To DCC...that is the question.

Well, I went and ordered the MRC Prodigy Express to start with, and an auto reversing module for my "Y". I here that you can control Tortoise switches with DCC, I have 14 currently and with 27 turnouts in my track plan, I hope to have them all pwered eventually. What is needed to power a...

To DCC or Not To DCC...that is the question.

Well, I have been checking... The reason I mentioned those, Atlas, Bachmann and MRC, I can get from my wholesaler (I run a computer shop with a small section of model RR stuff). Digitrax seemed to be getting all the press. Been comparing and I think I will go with the MRC prodigy...

To DCC or Not To DCC...that is the question.

Looking at it, the Digitrax Z125 decoders seem to be the smallest. For the Bachmann 4-4-0 I have a file saved at home about how to mount that decoder in the tender. Then pile wood on top :) Here is a link to a video of one running with a decoder. YouTube - Bachmann 4-4-0 with DCC

To DCC or Not To DCC...that is the question.

Thank you Andrew. I have always respected your opinion. You will note that in the new plan, there is still the "Batchelor Estates Apple Orchard" located in the corner of the Orangeville module. I will be right beside the door on the new layout (the green square). Plan is here...

To DCC or Not To DCC...that is the question.

Just a quick couple of questions for all the DCC experts here. I am in the process of rebuilding my N Scale layout. With the advent of new smaller and cheaper decoders, I am seriously considering going DCC. I have 2 questions: First regarding DCC Systems: 1. For an N scale layout...

    Finally The CVR goes public

Gus, the idea of the DPDT was that the toggles control direction of the train. That way with DC, you can have a train coming south and one going north, as long as they are on different blocks. Each "town station" will have a passing siding and each section of of mainline between towns is its...

    Finally The CVR goes public

Thanks Andrew. Yes the shop is going great, so far this year I have sold more railroad product than computer related product. The number one is still computer service. We went to the BArrie Train Show and next will be the Lindsay show in April and the Midland show in May. Of course we will...

Big doings on the CVR this year.... like the good news - bad news routines.... THE BAD NEWS: The entire layout has been split up into it's 4 modules. THE GOOD NEWS The train alcove is now an "Office" alcove. The office is now a "Train Room" THE BAD NEWS: Two of the modules will...
