My thoughts were either the fuel mix was more corrosive than expected and was eating through the lines or that the extra thrust was fatiguing the parts in the rotor at an accelerated rate.
As you are the resident authority on things that hover, I would like your opinion on why this wasn't implemented if it looked so promising. I have my suspicions, but I'd like to hear yours....

Some beefed-up parts were added and the figure was bent into shape.
