I tried that too with another program, I had to press and hold the 'control' key on the keyboard. Also It might help if you select all the pieces individually and then erase the lines leaving the entire piece as a smooth part?

Had to work on this some more, the newest one is waiting to be approved. I'm sorry for all these false starts, but you know how it is, also I have lost a huge amount of work due to a crashed external hard drive, so I want to save these just in case.
